hello. i'm new to home of poi and the whole poi world
i've used sock poi with tennis balls and just today got my flowlight with colecord and such and i'm having trouble getting it comfortable..
i'm not talking like personal preference on heads or anything just how is everything connected?
i have the cord, swivels, flowlights, quicklinks, and the handles with swivels..

My favorite grips are crimped coming out of my palm like nick does it for single. Double is just the normal one or just holding onto them. And my now favorite is knob grips ever since I got into throws and one handed things. I want to do them easily with fire so badly. Can't wait for my handles to get here from HoP along with a couple other things. I'm also getting a fire wand to help me heat temper my hands. If I ever get over my attachment to my arm hair, I'll do fire touching/contact fire/whatever the hell it's called. Also I tried out those heavy duty split rings. They're gonna give me some trouble even with the split ring pliers o0

I'm going to borrow this thread for a moment and ask a suggestion, since this one kind of stumps me. My flowlight rig is now heavy enough that I could use a 5/16" rope cord (about the diameter of the stuff used on HoP's pendulum poi), without messing up the distribution, and this would actually be better for throws. But I'm not sure a good way to attach it. My best guess would be to sew loops in the ends of the rope (actually a much stronger solution than it sounds) with quicklinks or some such at either end to attach to the crystal cases, but I don't like quicklinks on my poi. Anyone have any other ideas on attaching crystal cases to a length of thick-ish cord?

Another idea that I have come across is using plasticine in a fabric bag. Slightly more forgiving than solid wood or club knobs and such.
Not tried it myself though....

Work quite nicely. By cutting the chain near either end it should be possible to affix a swivel, but I have not really needed one.
The hairpin in the one image is a bit of a hack, since I did not have a suitable length nail.
In case it is not entirely clear, I made a small triangular cut into the rubber, which stops most tendencies of the nails to fall out.
Caution: these hurt like hell if you mess up, so be careful. That said, they should not be too much worse than kevlar heads.

I'm pretty simple w/ my poi- shoelaces/swivel handles+shorter shoelaces. I tend to use flowlight cases to practice with.

I was wondering.... I haven't gotten around to making cord or chain poi yet, and I do so love my sock poi... I was looking for some advice on a good way to add weight (for throws) and make a convenient hold at the same time without compromising the sock too much?
I tried just a double knot, but it was a little much.
Or... on a similar note, what kind of knot could I tie in my sock poi to make a loop handle of sorts?
