Our annual (now in it’s fifth year) Cambridge meet is coming up again!

Come, punt, spin, play!

This is a snippet of what last year was like:

Will's photos from last year:

And don’t forget to check out Guys punting tutorial vid too:

We will be meeting on Saturday 8th May at 11:15 at The Granta pub (see link to map below).

They have a large outside decking area which we can invade and have a drink whilst we wait for the (inevitable) latecomers. Lunch isn’t a bad idea at this point too, unless you’re bringing food to eat on the punts, up to you!

We’ll leave the pub at 1:30 and go get us some punts and go for a little boat trip, probably for around 2 hours. Cost will be approximately £30 per punt, so for 6 people in a punt it works out at around a fiver – we will try to get a better deal where possible though.

We’ll spend the evening on a nearby grassy area by the river. There will be opportunities to buy food, drink and disposable barbeques to cook dinner on. There will be an opportunity for a burn at this stage.

Later on, or if its raining, we’ll go to the hall. There are some strict rules over use of the hall. Failure to observe these rules could have serious consequences to the future of the building, and our use of it, it is in a residential area so noise outside the hall must be kept to a minimum.

-no smoking in the hall at any time (even if its freezing/raining/a hurricane outside, sorry - they have fire alarms!)

-except for the main hall, no sleeping in the Howard Mallett building

-please make sure we have your name on an attendance register in case there's a fire

-no fire spinning in the grassy area outside the main hall, or the car park (there is a spot down the road where you can sate your pyromania if you haven't already, we will happily direct you there)

-Please, you MUST be quiet outside the building as we will be in the center of a residential area.

We will be making a small charge for staying in the hall, just to cover our costs. It is likely to be £3-4 depending on how many people turn up, we’ll keep it to an absolute minimum. I recommend that you bring a sleeping bag, and preferably something to sleep on as well, as the floor of the hall is very hard.

There is car parking available. See link to map below.
We will need to leave the hall promptly in the morning, as other groups use it on a Sunday morning, so expect an early wake up call! We can point you in the direction of somewhere to get breakfast though smile

So, that’s it. Look forward to seeing you at Poi in the Punt 5. Lets make it one to remember!
