Posted: How could you do it?
Click, Snap fingers and a little shower of sparks (or small fire ball) flies up.
Tried flint from a cigaret lighter stuck to one finger & sand paper wrapped around the other finger, but the speed wasn't high enough for more than 5 little specks to be produced.
keeping in mind naturally the fingers are limited to being singed, not melted....
any ideas?

You could use MAKEMAGASINE'S tutorial on hoe to make a fireball thrower on youtube, and hide it down your sleeve, and with a mechanism in your other hand set it off..
Cheers

Posted: I've seen a little deal at the local magic shop in my town (Magic Man, Grants Pass, OR) and it's a little metal ring with a small cup-ish thing on it. The cup has a notch in it with a flint wheel about the size of a dime, only thicker, attached to it.
You put the ring on your finger so the small cup with the flint sits in your hand, sort of "palmed" like magicians do to hide coins n' stuff.
Then you buy the 'fire cotton' stuff. It's like flash paper, but fluffy like cotton, so it makes a bigger flame, quicker.
You put that stuff in the little cup. Then your ready to flick the flint which will like the flash cotton in the little cup. Then you throw the fire ball.
It's pretty cool. I'm sure if you google something like "Magic fire ball thrower" you'll find a magic supply site that'll have 'em.
I can't remember the name of the brand at Magic Man, but they had a few cool little flame gag/novelty things that'd be cool in a show.
Hope that helps!

Posted: Okay, with a bit of experimentation, practice and keeping it as cheap and minimal as possible: 1) Take a book of matches and cut a small square of the striker and glue it on your middle finger pad. 2) Rest the head of the match in finger palm and transfer to sort of a pad of the thumb tenkai (pad of thumb and first knuckle. 3) Slide the match head to the striker and support with nail of index finger. 4) With a bit of practice you can light it in a middle finger snap and flick it up with your first finger without burning yourself. - Note: you can make this look even cooler with a match pull and flash paper and keep the total cost less than 3 cents of a dollar US. *BONUS* You can do this fairly impromptu with the 'invisible pipe' trick have the fire ball flick out and produce smoke with nothing but a book of matches. Hint: Daniel Garcia and Brian Bushman
