hmm, I never bothered learning VIM: I'd be interested to know if you're still mousefree in a month.

Jameth: Probably, since I like vim. Will see once the novelty wears off. I think I will keep using a mouse for Thunderbird, but will give Muttator a bit more of a chance. Just seems to flow more poorly than Vimperator.

Wild_Child: Vim is a text editor developed from a precursor called vi. There are a number of other developments of it (elvis is an example) but vim is the most common. In addition to that, it is almost certainly going to be included in the default installation of a new Linux system. (If not, one of the other vi clones will be.)

What makes it different and unique is that editing takes place in two separate modes: one in which you type and text is inserted, and one in which various keys do various commands. As an example, 'x' removes the character under the cursor (so basically 'delete'). A nice feature is that nearly all commands can be prefaced with a number, which then executes that command that amount of times. So, entering '3x' will remove the next three characters.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it becomes quite natural and quick to use, especially since your fingers never have to leave the keyboard.

Vimperator is an extension to the Mozilla Firefox web browser that emulates, in large part, this sort of behaviour. A side-effect is that one does not need a mouse to browse. Again, it takes some getting used to, and not everyone, in fact most people, will probably not like it.

Muttator is something similar for Mozilla Thunderbird, which is an e-mail client.

Assuming that you read all that, it should be clear as mud.

And welcome back out of retirement. smile

Nothing poi related just a wicked bargain.

I just received my Oakley Monster Dog sunglasses and only paid 46 for them and not the 85 RRP due to them being "factor seconds"..... There's nothing wrong with them and there's not even a scratch etc on the frame for anyone to class them as seconds, ah well they're still a beast of a pair of glasses.

Just need the sun now to wear then frown

Happy New Years you bastards!

Also just so you can understand what we here in Michigan have to deal with for weather, just 2 days ago it was about 30 degrees, and last night it got to 50 and right now it's 45. And tomorrow is a high of 27.

Also just calculated that what I'm making out of 210ft of kevlar are going to be about 1.75 pounds each. My arms are going to love me, especially when they get fueled. I should be able to feel where in the burn I am just from the weight laugh3
