The North American Fire Arts Association is a non-profit safety organization
dedicated to raising the level of safety awareness in the fire performance
community. For 8 years, NAFAA has striven to gather and disseminate good
information about fire performance and squashed well-intentioned but often
harmful myths.

In that time, we never formalized our membership. We have simply been a self
-regulating, information society. All the efforts made by NAFAA have been made
by volunteers willing to make fire performance just a little bit better and
safer.

Our most recent effort involves insurance. NAFAA volunteers have negotiated with
Fractured Atlas insurance company to provide you with something almost every
fire troupe has been calling for: troupe liability coverage. That's right, you
can now get coverage for a whole troupe instead of just the individual members,
and have replacements covered under the same policy.

As part of our agreement with Fractured Atlas, we need to have a more structured
membership. So, NAFAA is formalizing it's membership base. Now, members wishing
to join may donate $5 on our website to receive a membership card and posting on
the membership roster. Plus, all members can use a special code at Fractured
Atlas to receive 2 free months membership with them ($19 value) and discounted
group insurance.

What are we going to do with all those donations? Nothing. For 6 months, we'll
allow this letter to distribute amongst the community so that as many people get
a chance to join as possible. Then, we'll hold an on-line council of all members
to determine the structure and future of the organization.
