Hello a friend of mine was practicing "tangled beat weaves" and I was wondering if anyone else was familiar with them and how to do them? Thanks for the help.

Tangled beat? Not sure what that is, do your poi tangle at the tether then come apart on the other side? If so, that would be a hyperloop, I wouldn't be surprised, some people come up with their own funky names pretty often actually.

The only luck is bad luck.

Shut up before I stall my poi up your ass grin

ive heard it called an infinate weave, where (in a weave) you let the poi wrap around themselves (near the handles) for a few rotations then carry them to your other side and let them unwind. the same principle as a weave/ 5 beat/ tru wrap. really hard to do clean.

Carry them over as in a hyperloop or do you skip the middle beat(between open arms)?

miss the middle beat. so you don't go inside your arms.
but i guess it would work if you wanted to do a few beats in the middle, as the middle is effectively neutral, i.e. it doesn't add to or subtract from the tangle

I recently saw a variation of the five beat weave where instead of twisting the wrists around each other, they wrapped one of the poi around their wrist and carried it across their body. Sorta like a uta crosser can be used as a five beat where you move the twist up your arm, except the twist was moved down the poi a little.

Dunno if that's it, but it's still kinda cool.

I've done that, and I know what you mean by the tangled weave. That's what I did when first learning hyperloops.

You can do the same with corkscrews too, which are a little easier to keep going than doing it in a weave. And looks a little better. I always found it looks real sloppy in a weave, and starts to loose momentum fairly quickly.

Hope that basicly covers it, very similar concept (as others have mentioned) as hyperloops. Check out the Nick Woolsey 5bt weave video for more info.

You can also do it, as you move your hands across, you can tilt them down so that the poi spin in front of you as if they were in a corkscrew, and then back to wheelplane again when you reach the other side... Don't know if that would be considered atomic or not?

Not sure how well this explains it. Although, once again, there is a decent tutorial by Meenik on Youtube which would explain it better.

I found it to be just like the 4bt thread the needle, except instead of pushing your hand in from of the other for a full cycle, just bring it back to the left/right and they tangle.

This is an airwrap innit? A butterfloop would be poi in opposites.

That would be a hyperloop in that picture, yup yup yup yes

Btw, am I the only one that finds the forwards butterfloop 5 million times easier to do? Also, the way i explain it covers both directions tongue2

An another not as I was typing this, I saw that KFC commercial with the fire, and every time I look at that I go WOO I CAN DO THAT! grin

Oh but it does have a point!, actually it has 2 points.
The poi tangle in a certain point near the middle after all...
Besides it's also a starting point for learning to play and flow with tangles.
