Is there a way to do this that isn't basically theoretical only? One or two poi acceptable, but I think one would be cooler.

Stalls.

Pick four points to stall to and do a series of linear isolations to them.

Or I guess you could do it like a 4-petal antispin flower, only with a really short poi and making the bottom petal a lot longer.

umm wouldn't it be a bit KKK to make a cross out of fire though?

That's what I was originally thinking, but how to adjust the size of the petals? floats?

I don't know if I can imagine this happening fast enough. I want to be able to see it real time, like when you do fast flowers.

Hanging poi. So it is not spinning.

Tankboy's idea is probably the best.

you can do continuous stalls, one poi doing back and forth horizontally, the other doing back and forth vertically. it's a bit hard to keep going though.

You'd have to slow down the poi when going for the bottom petal, because your hand would need to travel a longer distance than in a normal flower in the same time as the poi does the same 3/4 of a circle. Or do the opposite and move your hand faster, but I think the other would be easier. This would result in kind of linear extensions going down to and up from the bottom petal. I think you could slow the poi down by doing a tiny bit of linear isolation before going to the linear extension.

And ofcourse, I can't see why floats wouldn't work. They'd probably break up the flow more. But I agree with what has been said here, that continuous stalls would also create the wanted effect adequately.

Edit: I just tried it, and I actually found it just as easy to do it with my hand speeding up or poi slowing down in the flower. Try both ways. Again, this works best with shortened poi.
