Posted:hey spinners, recently got some oggz and was wondering what type of leashes people typically like for those. I usually use flat long shoe laces, but been looking for something wide but thicker. im used to sock poi, so stretchy works.

also, anyone do throws and use counterweights? if so, what's the weight ratio from end to end?

Posted:Actually I think I answered this in too much of a rush. If you like wide and thicker, use colecord and double it.

As for throws, I haven't done too much with them, but I think you only need enough weight that the cord will stay taught as the poi spins; too heavy and the poi will spin on the cord, and you might not want that. I saw a tutorial recently where someone cut a chunk out of a rubber bouncy ball and epoxied a loop of Colecord into it (you could attach a swivel do this loop and have more colecord for the rest of your cord, or you could omit the swivel as you prefer).

I just use door stoppers myself.

Posted:I don't even have anything special on for weight. I use no. 8 swivels on my handles, and that's enough to keep the cord straight.

Posted:excellent suggestions. until i order some colecord i've been using almost arms length nylon stockings (doubled over).

as for counterweights, i found rubber stoppers work, easy to grab too.

thanks again smile

Posted:yeah as any spinner will tell you;
its colecord all the way! i use small bouncy balls for my counter weights. there like... about an inch big.

check out my vid to see how i attach them.

its pretty easy to do if you have a drill... tho i used a blade and a metal stick =P

the usual weight ratio for sock poi is 3:1 (CW = 1/3 the weight of the head) which spins like a club.
tho for the 'ronins' its just enough to keep it all taught (which helps for all the contact tricks) as has been previously stated =]

i hope this helps you out mr =]
