Music to spin to, Tell us your favourite music to dance to

Has anyone ever thought of making a "poiers" music album? A collection of music that's GREAT to poi to? What music would you put on it?

My favourite music..

I'll start it off with 'Bony Incus (the man with no name mix)', by Eat Static. What music would other people put on it?

Happy (rythmical) Swinging,

Tim

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here."

Hey Hawk,

I usually don't follow links when I check in at work,
But since you're so persistent.

I like the soft intro, going over into a frenziuous guitar concerto.

It's this kind of music that I spin to aswell.

Build up slowly, then go crazy!!!! Right.

At raves, i see people using LED poi or glowsticks on strings as scruffy poi, and it is usually to hardstyle music (120BPM) i have seen some do it to happy hardcore, hardcore and gabber, but they messed up because it was too fast for them.

Woodsy:Down with the sound, and the people will all yell: "POWER IS MEASURED IN, DECIBEL".

It depends on my "spinning mood". I normaly spin to psytrance, a mid paced repetative beat with lots of energy.

Zen Mechanics - Industry Of Love
Ital - Indian Force
Burn In Noise - Ancient Knowledge

If I want a slow and more "floaty" based spin then some more ambiant stuff.

Solar Fields - The Stones Are Not Too Busy
Afro Celt Soundsystem - Persistence of Memory
The Angelic Process - The Resonance Of Goodbye
Blut Aus Nord - Level-1 (Nothing is)

I don't dance, but I do spin to music. Don't inquire too much into the distinction.

I've spun to some decent electronic music, usually when I'm at a jam somewhere, but as a general rule I don't have much taste for the genre. Personally, Godflesh is my favorite band to spin to, or really anything on the more rhythmic end of extreme metal.

This makes me something of a mutant among local spinners.

Fear Factory's Obsolete is also a good spinning album. A little less on the extreme side, but what's not to like about a posthumanist industrial metal concept album with songs about killer robots and "nonconformist subhuman terrorists"? tongue2

In Flames - Come Clarity is a good metal spinny album. Not too extreme and really bouncy. And an amazing album in general grin

My fave genres to spin to are Goa, Downtempo/Trip-Hop, Progressive Trance, House, Big Beat, Epic Trance, Alternative Rock, Worldbeat, Minimal and Industrial/Synthpop.

Current spinning album favorites are...

Hallucinogen-Twisted
Om Lounge-(any volume)
The Chemical Brothers-Surrender
Urbalbeats Volume 1
Astral Projection-Another World
Thievery Corporation-Radio Retaliation (and The Mirror Conspiracy)
Fatboy Slim- On The Floor At The Big Beat Boutique
The Crystal Method- Tweakend and Vegas
Moby-Play
Silversun Pickups-Swoon
Beck-Mellow Gold and Odelay
Rob Zombie-American Made Music To Strip By

and...
The Best Of Blind Melon

My fave dance genres are Goa, Progressive, Funky House, Acid House, Baltimore Club, Breaks, Techno, Indie/Experimental Hip-Hop, Electro, Mash-ups, EBM, IDM, Live PA, and Liquid Funk. Too many albums to list and most of the best stuff I've heard was being mixed by DJs at a club, festival, or rave so I won't even try to list albums and tracks. Too much good stuff and dance music is best mixed non-stop! grin

I don't like Techno. I'm ok with some Trance. Sometimes.

Spin to Metal! Or Tribal like Dead Can Dance. But nothing is better than drums ... when the drummers are good lol.

Some Metal's great to spin to, while a lot of it isn't.
I love Apocalyptica and Nightwish for fire, they're both great smile
Ambient Techno is great for non-fire routines, apparently smile

Hey guys! Thought I'd throw me 2p in while I'm here!

On the whole I like to spin to pretty much anything that falls under IDM, Glitch, New Age etc. But lately I've been playing around with spinning to more Classical music. So the other day I had a spin whilst listening to Ludovico Einaudi and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

It depends where I'm twirling. If I am aranged to spin at a party I normally ask the person who hired me what kind of music they like, and then i look if that's ok for spinning.

Otherwise it depends on the kind of toys I'm using.
Light/flowpoi -> tecno, rave,tectonic
car fuel/ gassoline on firepoi -> short big flames -> ( quite fast) metal&rock -> Mötörhead, Billy Talent
Disel on firepoi-> orange, longer lasting flame -> "softer music" -> Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob marley,
Fire breathing -> epic, monumental music -> In Extremo (herr Mannelig), Turisas (to Holmgard)

Gata Gata Para Sum Gata Bodhisvaha.
Go far, go further, go further than ever imagined.
