Tests were completed last night and I now have the BEST TOY EVER.
Its a firestaff fitted with electric detonators in the wicks, a rechargable battery and a switch. Push a packet of flash powder into each end and when you push the button BOOM! Big flash which lights the wicks
Got a couple of adjustments to make, mostly to do with making the wicks light faster but it works!
I'll upload the video when I can get online somewhere thats not work.

I'm back! And still haven't made the video... Was working hard on BJC stuff though, does that count as an excuse?

burning_ninja, I've not noticed any real damage to the wicks, but its a bit early to say yet!
