Alien Jon is going to be teaching 2 days of workshops in Cambridge! Day 1 is aimed more at beginners/intermediates and day 2 at intermediate/advanced.


Saturday 25th July:

12.30-2.30pm
# "Poi-Chi: teaching poi to your body 1st"
* Level: all levels welcome (complete beginners may be challenged once we actually start using poi)
* Covers a system of body awareness that is the foundation for how you work with poi. Stepping, turning, 4 mode with your arms. Much of the workshop is without spinning poi. Then putting it all together and then adding poi.

3.30-5.30pm
# "Foundations of interlocking partner poi"
* Level: experienced beginner to advanced (if they can do Nick's beginner prerequisites they are fine)
* How to interlock in different patterns with a partner as though you are 2 halves of one body.

Sunday 26th July:

12-2pm
# "The anatomy of circles and how they relate to you"
* Level: intermediate to advanced (experienced beginners would benefit from the 1t half, but be challenged by the 2nd half).
* A model of the basic building blocks of plane control, orientation, cross points, and moving the poi around the zones of the body. Taught as theory exercises, and applied moves. Touching on Framing and inswings at the end.

4-6pm
# "Time sculpture: the geometry of poi"
* Level: intermediate to advanced (experienced beginners would benefit from the 1t half, but be challenged by the 2nd half).
* Delves deeper into timing, symmetry and proportions, Loops and Arcs, Stalls and linear movements, Unit Circle, Hybrids and CAPs

There will only be 15 spaces for each class, so book now to avoid disappointment

Cost: 25 GBP for 1 class, 20 GBP each for 2 or more classes (ie 40 for 2), or 75 GBP for all 4 classes.


For those of you in London, Cambridge is a mere 45 minute train ride from King's Cross. We also have lots of nice open green spaces to spin and relax in afterwards
