Hi!

I was wondering about making isis heads, like salza are making.
Basically, I understand the knot, but there is something I didn't really figured out: does it uses one layer or two? I mean, do I start from the end, go to center and finish, or do I go back all the way to the edge again end finish then?
I thought they use the second method but when I tried it (with 10 mm rope) it came out really big, about 26 mm parimeter...

what do you say?
thanks,
Daniel

I don't think they are doing a double method. It looked like it had a core to me when I first saw it too and that make me think it was some kind of macrame but really I think it is just some kind of basic twisted lanyard.

are you sure in that?

Does the single layer wick give enough burning time?

well... I did an experiment today with 15 cm of 10mm rope, both one and two layers...

I can certainly say that two layers is way too big... 8 minutes of huge fire and lots of heat also quit heavy.... not something I want 70 cm from the place I'm doing contact. however, the one layer is a bit too small. I mean, it is big, and burn over 5 minutes, but since my staff is long, I can have something a bit bigger.

I though about trying isis staff with 12.5mm rope (1 layer). what do you say?
