Kinda scared about starting this thread cos i have a bad history of starting thread that already exist BUT i have done an extensive search and im pretty sure that this thread is completely new!!

i was just out in the garden having a bit of a spin, and i thought "hmmm i wonder what other people are trying to learn at the moment" and decided it would be agreat insight into the future of poi and where people were heading, and serve as inspiration to people who are a bit stuck. There is the obvious "oooh ive just learnt this" thread stuck at the top, but i thought it'd be good to hear what problems people are having with the moves while they are learning them, and how the over come them so other people can look and discover ways they might not have thought of.

so start your replies with "This Week I Am Mostly Learning....."

This Week I Am Mostly Learning.....3bt btb weaves, reverse5bt weave, and trying to work out 6bt TTN aswell as forward7bt weave. Problems?? loads, but these moves ( wink):
3btbtb weave, i keep hitting myself in the head, but im slowly getting the timing down,
Reverse 5bt, my wrists dont seem to like it, still working on timing, again keep hitting myself in the head ubbrollsmile
6btTTN again, the wrists are complaining, and the timing keeps going off
Forward7bt, i got a few beats the otehr night but i lost it now frown confused

hmm, what am I working on..? Oh right: Contact staff. biggrin

Actually, I finally am cleaning up my forward 3bt hybrid weave. For some reason it was a whole lot harder than the reverse 3bt hybrid.

That and straightjackets. I can get into the move, but continuing momentum for a few beats before I exit has been quite challenging.

Other than that, its all about the dance. weavesmiley

Busy trying to get my hyperloops going the other way (I can only get it from a reverse 3bt as it comes from the right), trying to get butterflies to move around me more (from front to back) and trying to get inward butterfly btb.

Fishtails on the staff...more aggravation.

Atomic weaving.....shoot me.

infinite hyperloops. coming along ok.

And that's more than enough for me right now. wink

seeing as I don't do poi this move must be beginner.

some butterfly move with your hands doin' circles so 1 is always antispinning... probably antispin butterfly.
it's nice because when you reverse the anti spin you an put a tangle in for antispin hyperloop butterfly biggrin

does this mean I can do poi yet confused

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

Trying to figure out how to do a basic flower (my arms don't seem to bend backwards like they need to.... I'm not really sure if I'm inflexible or if I just understand it at all.)

And the four and five beat weave (I actually might have the four beat down, and I might understand the five... but I'm really not so sure.)

i'm still very much a newbie, so i'm just pleased to finally have the three-beat weave down so that it looks somewhat graceful (wrists pretty close together now) & so that i'm not constantly wincing, waiting for the poi to hit me in the back of the head. lol! biggrin

i'm working on turning around while doing the butterfly now. i'm still hitting my poi together when i'm butterflying. that's tricky.
