Hi guys,

It's Southern Lights 2009 announcement time smile

Firstly, the dates are 12-14th June.
We have a new site on the grounds of a beautiful stately home in a little village called Kimmeridge on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, we know that very few of you will have heard of it so we have organised an electronic map!

There is so much happening and the best way to keep up to date with what's going on is to check out our shiny new website at www.southernlightsfestival.co.uk

We will endeavour to answer questions and comments that you leave for us but the best way to get your questions answered is to use the contact page on the website.

Have a wonderful winter and spring and we'll see you in SUMMER!!!

From all the Southern Lights Team

For anyone who wants to put on a workshop please contact me. E-mail is - workshops @ southernlightsfestival.co.uk
Please put a little something in writting. If you wish to put on a workshop I'll be looking for the following:

Your Name
Contact details (phone if your taking one so we can find you on the day).
Your arrival Date
Time / Day you would prefer to do it (although please note I may not be able to schedule everyone as they want)
A workshop plan / structure & description
If you need any equipment or if you have the bases covered.

I don't want - "I'll teach beginners poi"

I'd prefer - "I'll do a beginners poi workshop, I'll spent the first 20 minutes teaching butterfly basics, the second 20 mins teaching 2 & 3 beat weave basics followed by a recap and practice with Questions and answers - no previous experience necessary"

or

"I'll teach contact staff matrix variations, 20 minutes on 3 specified variants, people will need to be able to complete a matrix comfotably to gain benefit"

This way we don't have too many the same and we can get a nice variety, and people won't get to a workshop and find themselves unable to comprehend or actually take part.

Fun workshops accepted anything that you think people will enjoy and may want to learn. anything from poi to pat-a-cake!

See you all soon wink

Edit - OK I have already filled about a quarter of our workshop spaces so if anyone's interested please let me know soon

and my e-mail again is - workshops @ southernlightsfestival.co.uk -

got a little confused while putting when the site opens and closes on my calendar - i'm assuming on the website you actually mean the site opens at 12pm rather than 12am... just thought i'd bring it to your attention, or some very silly people might turn up in the middle of the night smile

Update***Update***Update***Update***Update***Update***Update***Update***Update

Hello everyone,

It's time for another quick update...

Firstly, we are very pleased to announce our latest workshop and performer. Winner of the prestigious “2008 Juggler of The Year” Wes Peden. If you've not heard of him, search for him on youtube, you will be amazed at what this guy can do!

Rather than having one performance company perform a fire show we have decided to book a number of individual top class acts and have a fire variety show which we are all very excited about as there is some stunning talent confirmed.

The workshop list is filling up and it's looking like we may have to have four workshop areas running all weekend and don't forget lots of hoopy hoopyness from Gemma and all at the UK Hoop Gathering who will be running a complete area dedicated to hooping all weekend.

Make sure you get your tickets before 23rd April to get your 10% discount. After this date all tickets will be full price and sadly, there will be no exceptions.

Any questions please email contact@southernlightsfestival.co.uk or call us on 07880 626155

Thanks and see you in June smile

We are offering a shuttle bus service from wareham train station to the site however it will only be going from the station to the site NOT supermarkets, shops or anything. If you do need stuff, get it before getting the shuttle. Cost will be £5 for a return trip per person. Times to follow but will sync with the london-weymouth line smile YAY!
