that looks like the legendary fully isolated three beat weave...
here is Nick's comment on that:

Yutas isn't QUITE fully isolated. Its isolated the same amount the whole time, but its not reduced to the unit circle.

The length of the chains is all thats stopping him from doing the fully isolated 3 beat weave.

here is a link to a mere mortal doing it. ^_^

Well, I guess it technically is if your poi is the length of your wrist to your hand...

So you either need a disproportioned body or ridiculously short poi.

The long and short of it is that its not worth it anyway. ^_^

It is totally possible to do an isolated 5-beat weave. There is no need to do a 2nd-degree tangle with your wrists locked close together.

In order to do a continuous iso 3-beat you almost get your arms into a separated 5-beat position. In order to do an iso 5-beat you almost get your hands into a separated 7-beat position.

Am I good at an iso 5-beat... not so much continuously, but it is attainable!

Well, there you go... I guess my issue is that I never really solidified my 7 beat because all the early poi exposure I'd gotten was "How many beats can YOU do?"

That'd look interesting, Jon. Thanks a lot for the quick correction.

Hmmm.... Looks cool.

Any hints on nailing it?

When you are isolating, your hand and the poi head are chasing each other around in split-time same-direction. This means that they are going to chase each other through your crossover points too.

There are 2 ways this can happen: The poi head can follow your hand. This is a dragging the iso along feeling.

Or your hand can follow the poi head. Since your hand is actually driving, this entails a flicking the poi head through the crossover point with a subtle planebending, then catching the your hand up to the poi head back in-plane on the other side.

You will want to get good at both of these iso crossovers to do the iso weave.

Since you are spinning in split-time and the poi/hand relationship is split-time, your poi head will be close to your other hand and vice versa. There are moments where the poi tether is almost resting on your other arm, much like in a barrel roll... but with out any inversion or any use of a buzzsaw frame.

See how far that gets you.
