ELEMENT
-------------

UNIT | CLASSIC | ELBOW | LONGARM

Quote: Pattern element, (un-crossed) half mirror construction.

Pattern, consisting of specific element group, instead of figure,
the whole shape as a complete picture.

Unit circle VS Illusion

Illusion as an "objective", extended by unit circle.

Applied unit..

See UNIT.

CLASSIC
-------------

SA | HALF | FULL | FOUNTAIN

Quote:Classic, circular construction.

Applied classic..

Ilusion, that line between handles is constant.

ARC
------

STOP | STALL | PENDULUM | R-TYPE

Quote:Partial arc, de-construction.

Applied R-type..

Applied classic replaced by Poi.

TRAMMEL
--------------

1.5 | TRAMMEL | PARACIRCLE | AS

Quote:Trammel, linear construction.

1.5 Dual interpretation

Trammel or not trammel. R-type hybrid?

Applied Trammel..

Awesome paracircle.

UNIT
-------

SNAKE | HYBRID | SUPERSPIN | CAT EYE

Quote:Unit, isolation (illusion).

Path VS Master circle.

Path, the distance Poi (head) travel through time and master circle,
the distance Poi (handle) travel throught time.

Applied Hybrid..

Extended isolation illusion.

Posted:Richee: Lack of pictures in thread about trammel makes it hard to follow. Re-explain maybe? (I can see the pattern here, but I assume that your picture had hand positions too?) Or new pictures in the first post there?

Thanks.

Posted:The trammel class is weird, actually paracircle isnt' trammel,
nor quadrifoil. But I think they have sort of similar context.

(I reffer to negative curve.)

There is only one picture in trammel thread( 2 AS solution)
and similar picture is here after 1.5, with dotted hand line.

(Trammel description is very simple.)

----------------------------------------------------

No more pictures, for now.

ooops,

Posted:This is a great post, and I just found it now. I have something to suggest in addition, though.
The unit circle has opened a lot of new ground through the following base proposition: "The smallest circle you can make with both poi and hand is an isolation, since any other pattern will have a larger hand circle, or a larger poi-head circle". By laying out a grid of unit circles tangent to each other, with linear driving styles in between (where one axis of oscillation that creates a circle is reduced to zero, making a line) we get a matrix that includes much of what we know how to do with poi. By overlaying a matrix from each hand, all the unit circle hybrids are born. By offsetting the centers of circles by 1/2 poi length, hybrids of linear-driving-style versus circular-driving-style are born.
So that's what's already going on, but not what I wanted to add. I'm here to say that UNIT CIRCLE IS NOT THE SMALLEST. It's the smallest you can get with hand and poi-head tracing THE SAME circle. But, if hand and poi-head trace two tangent circles, you can get a circle half the size. How: Isolate a pendulum by moving your hand side to side against it. Start to raise and lower your hand so it traces a circle while isolating the pendulum. Hand and poi-head are both making tiny circles.
So what? Unit circle theory is limited if we think ONLY in terms of unit circle. By allowing different sizes of poi-head circles (and other hand shapes) the patterns begin to overlay in harmonic proportion. Twice the unit circle is an orbit with the hand fixed. Thrice (a 3 poi length diameter) is a unit-circle extension. Half (an octave smaller) is the circle of an isolated pendulum.
The rhythms born of the relative speeds of poi to poi, and hand to poi, and hand to hand create most the lovely moves we enjoy today.

Posted:All right,
imagine square dot matrix in the lenght of hand,

Quote:Poi lenght = Hand lenght

Code:
| | |
--o--o--o--
| | |
--o--o--o--
| | |
--o--o--o--
| | |

connected with virtual lines, each line represent a stack.

So much fun!

----------------------------

Hybrid, is strange in case of representation,
it's special lenght case..
