[MENU]

BEGINNING

Poi is a name for a ball tied to the string, finished
with a handle for the leading hand. Poi is an art
connencting dance and object manipulation. Poi is a
connection of movement between hand, body and Poi.
Like a dance, living from the rhythm.

"Poi brings fresh and relax to a mind."

WHY SPIN?

Spinning brings physical relaxation. It also requires concentration
from many senses: touch, sight and hearing. This enhances their
scale within several other activities. Develop better reaction and
coordination. Orientation in space. Develop concentration on body
and object. Reflex, but flexible thinking and progresive action
too. Learn to be a stable, grounded person. Doesn't reflect, rather
light, upwards, feeling when spinning. The best communication with
Poi is without words.

"Poi brings fresh to whole body, it's movement in dance."

Spinning is physical relaxation for the whole body. An exact
description of steps to take doesn't exist. Only advanced
principals exist. Dance with Poi has no boundary and everyone
can find their own way to express self motion in dance.

"When spinning with Poi, there is always a next path."

It's easy to find that it works, but is different to see spin-
ning and to spin for yourself. Poi is understanding of space,
direction and time. Infinite possibility to develop ourself.

"Poi helps understand ourself and people, understand own
body and finding a balance inbetween."

Code:Erere taku poi Fly my Poi

Erere taku poi Fly my Poi,
Maurial atu ra carry over,
Nga riri o te motu the hostile island.
E papaki mai nei In rhythm,
Ko toku aroha of my love.
Me kawe ki te tau To my beloved,
Kia atu ki hoki mai with a message to return,
Kia au ki hoki mai with a message to return.
Poi comes from the Maories of New Zealand, aboriginies of these
islands. They are a nation full of color, handwork and face
tatoo moko. They are known for their friendliness, good will
and understanding. Their myths and legends talk about the
creation of Poi as a conjunction of two gods.

"Raupo and Harakeke are parents of Poi, Poi are eyes of the gods,
they mean message for gods, symbol of peace and openness".

Waita were songs, ghostpells, which represent Maori story-
telling. By most history of them comes from the women.
Including pleasure, love but also gospel to Poi. Express
pleasure, action or daring. Full of rhythm, emotion and
voices, which changes all the time. Haka, were tools to
express the agility and strength of Maory wariors with huge
ritual spirit. Women dance for joy, singing songs together
with Poi, rhyming, like musical instruments by rhythmical
tapping on palm or hands. Men, using an energic and
intensive stance with precise manipulation of their Poi,
display their power.

"Poi as a tool, is a different path, to express
our message to people."

Many times in the past, whole groups travelled, exploring
new continents to show their skill to other nations and
open a rich history to the whole world. Here, probably
due to exploration missions, came the first information
and first notes about Poi around the world. Today only
Maory woman perform poi for the general public. Original
Poi were made of raupo. This is a root used as a base for
the Poi head in the shape of a ball and thread used as the
base for a threaded tail attached to the head. Those
present, have a broad variety of shape or effect. Not as
a musical instrument, but the spinnning base stays the
same. Despite differences of method to control them,
leading to rhythmical movement in dance, ability is needed
to control.

"Look throught reality mean help to understand, how
mind construct its' own program. The reality of Poi prog-
ram is, that everything is possible."

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here."

Notebook got stacked and all notes are gone, anyway I did again,
list through all beginner node topics from the past.

I've found left several Xaeda and some Charles staff threads,
thus I didn't catched them all before. More, there are about
20, beutyfull thread discussions too.

I'd like shift them to advanced node later, as well as pro-
pper linking.

It takes like 2 hours, but I was going through
several years of development.

Kind of a different look.

I've met Mineiro!
