My name is Zayna, & I am a professional belly dancer. There is a new trend in belly dance to fuse poi with veil work, poi + veil = voi
Anyway, there is going to be a belly dance festival in the midwest, USA. And there is a voi workshop at the fest. I taught it last year, this year we have Donna, a hula & belly dance instrutor teaching voi. So just incase anybody will be close, here is the information:
Hiptastic! Belly Dance Festival 2008 Saturday, September 13, 2008. 1-6pm Rain or Shine!
The festival takes place at the Round Lake Beach Multi Cultural Center. 2007 Civic Center Way (Hook & 83) Round Lake Beach 60073 847-201-9032
Festival Events include: Belly Dance Show Vendors/Shopping Drum Jam Mini Workshops (intro to belly dance, shimmy drills, voi & candle dancing, & drumming) Open Dancing Henna/Massage/Reiki/Face Painting & MORE!
So pack a picnic & bring the family!
Children under 5 are FREE. Children 6-16 only $10. Adults are $18 (door tickets are cash only) Free parking, Metra accessible Lawn seating for 3,000 Please feel free to bring chairs, blankets, picnics (NO glass, alcohol, or pets)
Dress is casual or feel free to dress up in belly dance or ren faire attire. You can bring your hip scarves, veils, bubbles, poi, drums, or other instruments for the drum jam!
This is a NON Smoking event. There is a smoking section on the patio on the opposite side of the building.
Traffic directors will be available to help direct people to the parking lots.
