Roughly.

You start off in a tidal pool and basically run from everything while eating and getting bigger.

After this stage, you get legs and have to wonder around and impress/drive to extinction the other species that you meet. Here you decide on the final look of your creature. eg: Four-armed, three-eyed, winged quadruped green monkeys.

Then fire is discovered which means that you move into a tribal phase where you (again) impress/knock back to animals the other species.

After this you are the dominant species on your planet and need to unify it by taking over all the cities on the planet before discovering space flight.

Then comes a fairly big space stage which apparently has an end, but I have not finished it.

Over all, the game is pretty flexible, if a bit simplistic. It is fun though, even if aimed at younger market. On the other hand, it is a Maxis game, which means that once you start playing, time will wander off somewhere....

IMHO sounds bad. *creates creature with bigger ears....oh wait i forgot the heart! *watches it die** yeah........

and are you saying you actively and willfully make other species extinct? iit shouldnt be a matter of making them extinct, your character should be most applicable to survive/develop in the environment. sounds silly to me, but i probably would play it just to see what its like, forget spending money on it though.

NOT WHEN THERES FALLOUT THREE!!!!!!!!!!!! grin

The only thing that you *have* to have is a mouth. Beyond that (and I would suggest eyes), you do not need anything else.

And the "make them extinct" could be taken as outcompeting them.

The environment does not really change, so it is a case of getting better stats etc.

Like I say, not overly realistic and a bit simplistic. Good way to while away a few hours though. But Fallout 3 sounds way cooler. wink

I've been steadily paying it off every pay day for the past four weeks, so damn excited!

Oh, and I got a friend's copy of Spore. Fun, but not overly engaging. Good for wasting time, but I'm not gonna skip classes or stay up all night playing it.

I... sort of got it through a set of coincidences today. I learnt that my uni class was cancelled, then my sister decided to go to the shopping centre, and it was lunchtime, and pay day, and...

I now have a bobble-head Vault guy, the game, and a few other goodies. And I have them locked up until I finish my essays frown

FO3 is soo good not using swearwords cant do it justice!

grin

yesterday i played for 5-8 hours (i'm not exactly sure...lost track of time a little :p) completely not on the main story line, and i suspect i could keep going for dozens more. i'm not sure what to do, play through main story only or just keep exploring every now and then and make my first play through extensive and incredibly huge.

probably best not to focus purely the main quests - Oblivion only had about 13 hours of play in the main quest.
