Ucof to the rescue! biggrin

AVG 7.5 (the version you have) will no longer get free updates. This is because they (Grisoft) are phasing out 7.5 in favour of 8.0 which is available here:
https://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-F...cdlPid=10834624 (for free biggrin )

Install that, and Bob is your mother's brother. smile

I would love to keep the old(er) version of AVG... ubbcrying

The new one is a little bit pain in the neck because they have a resident shield and a browser access shield built in.

One can deflag these options (as I pretty much know that my computer dos not have a virus as of right now and I don't surf porn sites) but then the icon goes red all the time.

Prob is that these businesses live from paranoia... certainly they spread it.

You could try the Home Edition of Avast!
Its free and seems to consume a lot less processor overhead than most other antivirus stuff I've tried....

Regarding that browser shield thing - you can tell it not to install it when you are installing the overall program.
The only reason the icon turns red is because the program detects that something is not working properly, wether you have disabled it or not.

Stupid I know.
shrug

Regarding the resident shield.... surely you would want real time protection on an anti virus program? confused

Tomboy - Good habit to get into, but there's always the chance that something could get in that would otherwise be caught by the virus guard.

Or simply upgrade to FireFox 3.0 after installing AVG

But then the website checker is also gone...
