hmmm... I got a chuckle out of this (without thinking about doc's very valid point) when I heard it yesterday afternoon, but something didn't quite sound right. unless japan is significantly different to most everywhere else, that $10,000 figure is quite severely inflated.

it could be plausible.. when i was hanging out in a hostel in japan recently.. people were talking about it being rather expensive.. i wasnt really paying attention though, so i cant quite remember..
however.. being the media and all.. it could just as easily be a lie
