I think i get most of it - except the double square...

I don't see how you've got the poi/staff head following the hand so both form a square? Wouldn't your hand have to make an anti-spin 4-petal flower for the staff heads to make a square?

Nice though smile

I like the way document describe pattern symmetry,

especially the 'line symmetry'.

I meen the difference, between shape beeing horiz-

ontal or vertical and pattern init, beeing horizontal

or vertical as well.

Example can be, vertical circle with vertical line

of (pattern) symetry and vertical circle with hor-

izontal symetry.

I meen this is especially interesting in case of asym-

etric shape by point.

To all, I would like to excuse me to not care about this thread. To do that, I've done a new video where you could see some forms executed with different configuration of rotation. wink
[Old link]

Here is the french version of the pdf:
https://ftp.flood.fr/ktr/WORKSHOP_PARIS.pdf

I can now translate a sentense very general that I say:

p6:

"On all the conceivable geometrical forms, the present effects of symmetry (point or axes) can be exploited with the corresponding configurations of rotation."

Tell me want do you think about this very general sentence. confused

On all the conceivable geometrical forms, the present effects of symmetry (point or axes) can be exploited with the corresponding configurations of rotation.

I think this is partial, bacause some patterns do not change

symmetry whet rotated (point).

E: Fountain

Only those with axial symmetry can get extra configuration

by 90 degree rotation.

E: Partial arc

Prove of concept:

---------------------------------------------

 Written by

On all the conceivable geometrical forms, the present effects of axial symmetry can be exploited with the corresponding configurations of rotation.

Can be proven, that if pattern has axial symmetry, than all-

ways has point symmetry.

This also prove previous statement, that not every symmetric

pattern change when rotated.

 Written by

Let give a move 'linear' prefix. Than move is linear, when has horizontal axial symmetry.

This is importatnt statement, because you can differe now,

which axial symmetry is default.

(I preffere vertical..)

Richee,

I've the impression that we didn't understood together...

In this general sentense, I'm not talking about patterns, but about GEOMETRIC FORMS (lines, triangles, squares ...).

Let us see an example:
If for exemple you want to play with your hand on a vertical line, I say that you could play on this form by using the symmetric effects who are present on this form.

A vertical line has a point of central symmetry and two axe of symmetry (verticable and horizontable).

By making correspond these symetries in the corresponding rotations of the poi:

*You could play on the vertical line with poi rotating in the same way at the same time (hands are here also jointed and move at the same time). I would say here that there is a "double" effect because the two poi do the same think at the same time.
*Poi could also rotate in opposite (hands are also jointed and move at the same time). we are playing in fact here, we the verticable axe of symetry).
*Poi could rotate in opposite split time(hand begin at the opposite point of the line, using in fact the horizontable axe of symmetry).
*You can also use the point of symmetry and have your poi rotating in same direction in split time (hand no jointed, doing the line in split time too, begining at the opposite point of the line).

So this setense do not generelize all the patterns we can do (!!!), but only the moves who exploit geometric forms and the symmetry on these geometric forms.

I thinks the words I'm using are not universal in poi discussion.

I just think the basic geometry (just forms and symmetry) could be beneficialy used in poi practice. That is the principal point I explain in the article. By understanding just the sentense I've traducted, I think you could understand also the methode I wanted to explain in the article. Next time in work shop, It will be a pleasure for me to explain again what I wanted to share with you.

But please,
Just play and have pleasure.

FORGET THE DIRECTION!

& FORGET THE TIME!

True, what that meen:

- Your A = B and your C = D.

Because, you can simplify this by fact, that everytime your hands

separete from each other, you can create an axis of symmetry

between them.

The second axis is parallel to the fist, but you can't usually touch

this kind of virtual. But throuht rotation, specially 90 degree.

What you are thinking about is changing of playing "offline" VS

"online". that is actually something different, but also nice and

very usefull.

--------

EDIT: I've found yesterday the third technique,

but I can't get it out of the mind.

that all,

I found the link in another thread however it also just takes me to a french site that appears to want me to upload something? Any help would be great.

I have a copy, might be the older French one.

Will pm Cyrille and ask if I can mirror it, doubt he will mind, but there *is* such a thing as protocol.

Will update in a day or two. smile

To be honest, even the French one is very useful though, the idea is that you can use those shapes in combination with variations in spin direction and timing to get a wide range of shapes.
