I'm just trying to guage how many of the beginner spinners use the library.

Reason being is that I was thinking of putting up a series of tutorial Videos for "medium difficulty moves".

The moves themselves won't be all that difficult but they will stil be slightly harder than the beginer moves and easier than advanced moves.

I've already done two vids if anybody is interested in watching them. I was thinking of making anohter vid each week / month (depends on how motivated I feel).

Butterfly Hyperloop Tutorial

Neck Wrap Tutorial

Anyhow let me know your thoughts. smile

I used it alot when I first joined the site, only because I didnt know where to meet ppl though. At a medium level and as a person who struggles to learn from videos I have to learn in person rather than online.

Good on you for putting up tutorials smile

A LOT more has been added to the library.

It's probably going to be a vid a month coz to be honest I can be quite lazy.

I used to use all of the videos, but then I learned all of the moves and so I stopped. More videos would always be helpful.

Edit: With regard to the actual videos you have already put up, perhaps try for some higher quality picture ones with less repetition in them, because we can always just stop and rewind the video.

Sorry bout the quality but I don't have a video camera so It's being filmed on a digital camera.

Thus explaining poor quality and the lack of audio

Less repetition would probably help quite a bit aswell tho you may notice that I demonstrate the move 3 times in 4 different ways (Foward, Reverse, Lefty and Righty), and from multiple angles.

This is because everybody can do these moves but somtimes it helps to see a move from every possible angle espcially in 1st person.

Ah Heck your right I guess I'll just speed it up a bit and Edit more carfully in future smile

Hey maybe I should start a "Get DarkFyre a Video Camera" Thread

Perhaps uploading a different video for either each direction, or each camera angle?

It's a shame about the camera frown

Thats A good thought however they are ment to be tutorials so I'm not sure how well that would sit with me.

But hey Just keep an Eye out for the next vid and who know what I'll do.

I really do need to get a video camera BTW so be patient and they will improve.

I used it a lot. Have moved on to finding other stuff now though.

I like Durb's tuts. Another person who does pretty good ones is Nick Cann. Explains everything nicely.

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

Ive used it alot but i kinda regularly change between other video sources... as the HOP library was good at the beginning and so was the poipoi.info tuition but now i check the HOP, some of feuershows and nick wolseys (who is a great teacher(and thats just from the videos)).

but a note to darkfyre, the neckwrap was a good tut as i watched it and than went out and managed to do it second time, Although the move does make me incredibly dizzy... biggrin

A note about the HoP library:

Making additions is not about getting as much in there as possible and upping your HoP credit.

I'd rather see two useful videos, than twenty crap ones showing variations of the same move.

I also generally find, that the less you show people, the more likely they are to come up with their own little variations or quirks.

And when making tutorials, think about quality. Filmed in your bedroom is rubbish. Clarity is important. if you insist on using titles to explain the move, rather than writing a detailed description, make sure you use them wisely enough that they are READABLE and don't distract from the video content.

Let's try to keep some fun in the learning process for people!

fNi - Granted I technicaly didn't hyperloop however it's still the best name for it. In all honesty it is an Infinite Butterfly Tangle but Butterfly Hyperloop is easier to understand and a Butterfloop sounds so much better.

Ages ago while I was having a bit of a play around I found that over the head is easy enough and side to side is more difficult but do-able. All up I still reckon its a hyperloop or at least in the same family of moves.

LTC - Some fair points, some harsh points. Overall I think that it may be a good idea for me to get a decent video camera before I do any more vids.

And maybe host them from youtube rather than HoP.

But a butterfloop is different than butterfly-airwrap... Take that tangle and move it into buzzsaw plan and out the otherwise. That's a butterfloop...

I'd add/second that a "tutorial" isn't just showing the move, it's breaking it down, teaching it, explaining it and it's variations.
Doing the move over-and-over, even from different camera-angles isn't a tutorial - if people don't get it the first time, chances are they won't from any other angle either...

I'd agree that also the quality makes it all hard to see, but this isn't really your fault smile

Awh to Heck with semantics coz at the end of the day it's all part of the tangle family. Plus I'm only calling it what somebody else called it first.

That said and done you can butterfloop thru buzzsaw plane as you said, I did mention this in my previous post ("side to side") tho without all of the technical language.

I'll make better tutorials once I get myself a video camera and then I can get some audio and do away with the crapy text.
