I meen, this is something I've been thinking a while.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Poi, is physical object having it's own weight. There exist a given w-

eight of hadle, body and head. Either the balance between them or

the weight itself is vitaly important. I'd call that a weight of move,

because one would mind this is technical, not relating to move, but

wait.

"Spinning is both fysical and psychical exercise."

Learning new move is cool, nice, but as well mind thing. I think, the

focus can be in the weight the own Poi too. Because when you spin,

you grow up, like in mind as in body.

"From tennis to crystal anyone?"

I think, the heavier Poi you have, the wider access of move you can

get, but the progress is slowlier. You can start with heavy Poi, but

may stop sooner than was expected, than with light and fresh sock.

-Tenniss ball -> Start here

-Kevlar wick -> Fro those who love (thx.)

-Sock Poi -> New practise Poi

-Monkey fist -> New fire Poi

-Crystall ball -> Testing..

-Star wick -> ?

-Glowstick -> !

I meen fire counts, fire Poi are usually heavier that practise Poi, even

more soaked. This, let you put more super strenght spin, but let you

tell to practise more, after drop-down too.

"Tell this is not truth." (oldschool)

I meen the progress goes within the person and within the Poi. Mo-

ve need time, mind need time to think, more about move, both in

some kind of disbalance.

"Balance?" (dreaming)

I meen, one can force another. Sometime, I need to clear mind, go

spin. Sometime I need to move body, go spin. Sometime, I want

dance.

"Tennis ball isolation?" (You rock!)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start, stop, start, stop..

slow mo,

Both weight and wind resistance (drag) are important factors.

For me, the most important proportions are of head(weight vs drag) vs PoiBody(weight vs drag) vs handle(weight vs drag). I seem to adapt fairly easily to different overall weight/drag as long as the head-body-handle ratio is the same.

There is definitely a learning experience that goes on with very heavy poi or very light poi. Learning to cleanly plane bend heavy poi, or gaining the light touch needed to isolate glow strings is great to explore.

Also, it's important to explore both short and long poi lengths.

All of this is like stretching. In yoga, if you stretch in one direction it is good to stretch in the other as well: If you do a forward bend you balance it with a back bend.

I think of playing with different poi types as stretching my ability in that particular direction. So if I spin heavy, I'll spend some time with light poi too. I feel like this not only stretches the extents of what you feel comfortable spinning, but it helps develop the middle ground as well.

Hmmm.... I find light poi very disconcerting.

Have not played much with ratios though.

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "Or you wouldn't have come here."
