Coming Soon: Circus Festival Ireland

Early in 2008 Cork will have its winter blues blown away when 'Circus Festival Ireland' will make Cork the Capital of Circus! This new and exhilarating festival takes place 15th - 17th of February and will light up the city with the skills, grace, colour and comedy of contemporary circus.

Thanks to significant support from the Cork City Council Arts Office, the people of Cork can look forward to some of the brightest stars of contemporary circus coming to town during this three day interactive event. The festival is hosted by University College Cork who are providing their state of the art Mardyke Arena for a weekend of spectacular workshops and games.

This is the ultimate opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities including juggling, acrobatics, clowning, globe walking, uni-cycling, stilt walking, comedy improv and much more! The workshops and games are open to all; beginners as well as advanced!

Some of Europe's most accomplished circus tutors and performers including John Lee (UK), Stefan Sing (Germany), Amani Acrobats (Ireland), Compagnie with Balls (The Netherlands), Imakokode (France), Meghan Pike (Scotland), Olvier Masson (France), Ronan McLoughlin (Ireland), Kamil 'Dzielny' Dzilinski (Poland) & many more are joining in, and on Saturday 16th February when ‘the circus comes to town’, they will be showing off their talents in two spectacular city centre shows in Cork’s Firkin Crane.

The city of Cork has now really embraced contemporary circus and in supporting Circus Festival Ireland one and all can look forward to a weekend filled with fun and adventure!

For more information check our website at www.circusfestivalireland.com and join our News Letter!

We've also had a visual face-lift on our My Space so make sure to visit www.myspace.com/circusfestivalireland and become friends!

About Accommodation here…where the circus event is on there’s like a Million and one B&Bs along that road...and there’s BRAND NEW college student accommodation, so im sure if any one arrived with a bottle of Buckfast they would make friends quick enough, find a place to stay, and may even get laid in the same sentence...OF course we dont live in a perfect world, so ye probably would end up homeless, drunk, and with a STD...Sorry...don’t know where that tangent came from.

Seriously though, Check out https://www.sheilashostel.ie/ its a bus ride from where most of the action is, or a swift jaunt, but its well worth checking out, I stayed there for 10 euro one night. make enquiries! Its right near the train station.

There’s also this place, near where the juggly place is

https://www.anoige.ie/hostels/cork-international

Hope this helps a wee bit. and Nate, dont worry...hostels are great places to pick up all sorts or weird shizzle...from skin diseases to life skills. Good times.

Cameron ubblol LOL indeed

i would advise everyone to try and sort out accommodation before arriving, camping won't be possible, as far as I know, as it is quite close to the city centre.
Check out the hostels like Cameron suggested, or join www.couchsurfing.com and see if you can find a free place, or else maybe you can ask at www.emeraldcircus.com - the Irish juggling forum.
