Nice idea smile Kinda like https://www.ripple.org
I'll so play it when I get bored (which is often!)

It's really sad though that it's these massive companies (I've seen Toshiba, Apple, Readers Digest, to name a few I've seen) yet only 10 grains per correct word is donated.

But I like giving more to others. smile

When I was in Thailand I did some volunteer work with rice farmers in the fields.

Lovely idyllic lifestyle in the midst of the most beautiful scenery in the world...

But i'd hate to do that labor for the rest of my life and be subject to nature and a lot of other factors! frown

So what level do you native speakers get to?

from what I hear it's pretty hard to get above 40 and almost no one gets above 48,
though I've been averaging about 35

On my own I was hanging around 38-40, and with my parents it was 40-42

Looking up the words in the dictionary, most of the words at the high levels are archaic, rare, or even obsolete! So don't feel bad birgit!

I'm hovering around 45-47..

Possibly due to the habit of one of my Uncles who I spent a lot of time with as a kid, who used to use weird and obsolete words in unusual contexts all the time..

43 with 500 grains donated, there'd be more but I have to go to uni and learn how to be a grown-up.

Some of those definitions are a bit suspect though: Pedant=Scholar?

Oh cool I just gave away 240 grains of rice before I got bored. But don't worry I will go back later for another go.

Nigel, pedant as a scholar is actually correct, it's just an obsolete meaning.

It's fairly unforgiving. You can hover at 38-40 with consistent correct answers, then get 1-2 wrong, and then drop to 33!

I seem to average mid 30's. I need to do more reading. ubblol

43 with $1000 grains donated. Then I realised I have an assignment due in...3 hours. Maybe I can use some of the words I've just picked up in it!

They do seem to repeat themselves after a while.
