So, I'm curious.

Rumor keeps catching me on the wind (since I supposedly know someone who invented whatever the heck this is), and it's driving me mad. It's said to be a variation on contact juggling, but I've never seen a finished product or presentation of this.

.... anyone ever hear of this technique? Or is it just me that keeps hearing of it? juggle

I heard about it from a former-friend, now-evil-ex-and-personal-enemy that Michael Glenn had been working on it.... but I totally forgot to ask about it at fair this weekend. Supposedly, it operates on the same idea as those old gyroscope toys or those jailai things of incorporating a curved piece of wood to work the sphere into new planes and movements off the body.

I think you mean Obi Wan Kennobi who used what is called the "force" which is a bit like CJ but not quite as good.

But Contact Jugglers do use the force, Durbs. I see why you gave up now... wink

Seriously. Evil Ex Boyfriend told me about it two and a quarter years ago, and I've been very curious ever since. However, at the time, Evil Ex and I were on much better terms, and he was working out his own variation on it for a professional act... so I was trying to be nice and not say anything to anyone about what he was telling me.

shrug

I'm really kicking myself for not asking Michael about it at fair now. I really want to know if it exists and, if so, how it works!!!

.... aside from the Force. I'm not allowed to use that anymore. ubbrollsmile

Google, youtube, wiki.... everywhere..

The variation my ex had been working on was using an entire circle (as opposed to just a long curve of wood), rather like a hula hoop with either a flat-edge or grove in the inside and the outside to offer both planes of play.

..... SOOOooooOOOO mad at myself for not asking Michael.

And very funny on the zamboni..... although, I HAVE always wanted to drive one. Shhh.... don't tell them at the local rinks. They might think I'm getting ideas if I go skating too much this winter!

I just want to see if anyone's gotten it down yet. I have no where near the mad phat contact juggling skills to make it work even in my wildest dreams. It always sounded awesome in theory, and even the practice runs of it looked pretty sweet.

.... where is Kahn when we need him? I'm certain he'd be the one to bust out some awesomely amazing vid with him contacting the sphere, doing some absolutely incredible hoop work... and... then... somehow.... making the two go together onto one another. juggle
