"Watch those explosions in the sky and you'll go blind, but not this time. Will you live in hope or dark desire? What can I say? F*ck love give me fire." ~Cities Of Night by Blaqk Audio (Davey Havok)

There is nothing to be afraid of. Virtual reality will eventually rehabilitate your mind and eventually your body. Everything will be allright, i promise. Just concentrate. Try some music.
I once learned every move that there was,
Every style, Every technique.
Then I woke up, and forgot it all,
So now I struggle to dream.
You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?" George Bernard Shaw

Practise Harry, practise
A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

Ouch! I'm just a little girl folks! I am like a wet noodle...I can bend any which direction you want, but there's no strength there.

Its probably the way your holding your tongue!!
Its probably your timing too, try to be moving your hand down as you catch the staff, this way you reduce the speed at which your hand and staff comes into contact in turn reducing the twang!!

When you go for the catch try to make sure that your hand isn't held to stiffly cause that will give the staff something hard to bounce off, if you have your hand slightly curled ready to close your finger in the catch, it will soften your palm and also reduce the time it takes for your fingers to close on the staff. Think like trying to catch a ball one handed.
Dunno if that helps but thats what I do.
