I'd consider myself a fairly advanced user of Excel, but i'm currently struggling...

Is there a way to make excel not let you enter the same thing twice?
i.e. I'm creating a table, but if i enter the same value more than once, can i make it go "bing" and not let me enter it?

I've trawled through validation, but can't see anything there, and aside from boshing up a quick formula to check if anything is entered more than once and making it flash red, then i can't think how to do it...

Thoughts?

um... off the top of my head you could have:

=IF(current cell=cell:cell, current cell,"Duplicate value found")

possibly?

Yeah, but that involves typing that into each cell...

I just want to plug values into the cells as normal, but if i type something in twice, it lets me know...

specifically are you saying the same number in the same cell by accident, or the same number in the column(range) your working in?

did ucof's previous comment not help in the end? or is his last one just to throw people off...
