My name comes from a mix of Jester and Harlequin - does that mean I'm between 1st and 2nd place?

I reckon give them titles based on what they can do (poister, juggler, staffer etc) but also a seperate system for ranking - usher, clown, acrobat, lion tamer, ringleader.

Check out Cirque du Soleil and also try looking for gymnasts apart from jugglers. A lot of normal gymnastics acts can turn out to be fantastic circus performances without spending big bucks on trapezes and tight ropes and other expensive equipment.

Balance Beam can make a cool synchronized performance if you change the shape and look of the beams, be creative. High Bar is quit impressive as well, and Rings can substitute for any aerial act. Floor is quite impressive if combined with acts such as pyramids or where people stand on each other, etc.

Anyways, I'm wandering on, but just be creative with what you have.

Cirque Du Soleil? Really? Wow, are you a performer?

My friend went and saw Varekai and loved it - especially the meteor kids. I've seen the DVD, and agree with her - the shows awesome! So kudos to everyone from us two!

Hey all just a bit of an ask... I'm the current President of the University of Portsmouth Juggling Society and we've been having a bit of a revamp of our forum and decided that we need a sort of ranking system instead of post counts as post counts seem to cause a lot of spamming..

We don't want anything army like or piratical or anything of that sort. Instead we want something juggly.. if that makes sense... one of our members came up with: Mime, Clown, Joker, Jester, Harlequin but it kind of ended there and we don't know what else to do.. so any help would be appreciated!!

The website it www.juggle-uk.eu for any people about in Portsmouth!!

Excuse me, maybe it's only that saturday party late night, sunday morning not enough sleep - thingy in my head... but what is this tread actually about? *scratches head*

Oh - ranking juggling type things... other than by public interest/ posting... as in... what people (here on HoP) like the most, the least... What about making a poll? This way you would not have to make a list yourself... oh, okay I see - you're trying to get ideas for a list that you can then turn into a poll...

I'm not making much sense - ignore me.

the best smiles are the ones you lead to wink

For those that are confused, this is supposed to be about ranking people on their abillity, helpfullness and general usefullness to the portsmouth juggling society. Then that rank can be displayed next to the avatar for people to know who's a newb and whos an old skool performer who works there ass off for the society ie (Pidge the president or Luke the "webmaster").

I can see it getting competitive (not what the Soc's about) but if it means people do more for the soc to boost there rank it could be a good thing.

Pidge is just after a clever idea for "grades" to give people like how the bank make you a "platinum" customer.

newbie
settled in
part of the furniture

or

peasant
ninja
god

The other lists don't have any instrinsic levels that easily identify ranking

.....Can't juggle balls but I sure as hell can juggle details....

sounds like the list of toys we came up with as levels of quality

staff
yoyo
juggling
diablo
hoop
poi
(devil)stick
statue
mime

no basis on difficulty just a friendly arguement about which was cool and which wasn't... we decided things were poi instead of gay so as to stem the antithesis of our homosexual friends wink

whay don't you have

cascade
shower
box
mills's mess
rubensteins

a list of ever more complicated juggling tricks?

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.
