This cycles around in email alot. I have received it about 9 times in the past 5 years, but it is always very interesting to read, and think about, even when you know the outcome.

it certainly made me think! I actually chose candidate B for world leader, I actually forgot about the abortion bit but I would probably have advised for it, much to my shame.

The statistics at the end certainly aren't. And apparently the first bit is misleading at best:

i didnt think Hitler was married either.

I'm sure he just had a mistress. And, if he didnt smoke, then why are there many photo's of him with cigars hanging out of his mouth?

Note: I just spent 20 minutes writing a reply, only to lose my connection... Here I go again, and it should be worth reading*

I had an expierience this morning which made me think of this thread.

Whilst I am not a religious person (and find religion a little hard to swallow in all its forms) I was at church this morning for my flatmate, who was being confirmed into the Christian church.

Not having much of a role, or being particularly interested in the communion side of things, I took a seat at the back to observe. Having observed the seat, I sat on it.

About 10 minutes into the service, 8 blokes wandered in. All shaven headed, with tatoos (bad ones, swallow on neck, LOVE HATE on knuckles etc.) and the statutary single ear piercing.

My first reaction was "They must be here for the collection plate!". A thought which now shames me deeply.

One of the group came to the back and sat next to me. He looked mean, in a 'crimewatch' sort of way.

After 30 minutes or so, the service was dragging, and he started to chat to me. He had heard me chatting to my better half, and realised I was a Northern Monkey, he was from Liverpool. He had a Ringo Starr scouse accent, low and mellow, not sharp and piercing (like Cilla Black).

I asked him why he was in Southampton, and without a moments hesitation he told me he was on a rehab course, and had been on crack cocaine for 10 years. He had been clean for 46 days as of today.

He was a good bloke, he was trying hard to overcome something which had taken over his life, and he deserved my respect, and the respect of the rest of the congregation.

After that revelation I was appaled by what I had first thought about him. (Though by his own admition a couple of years previous and I could have been right!)

*Another affirmation of my non-belief came when we returned to the flat, with the new 'Christians' in tow. Although they had just taken vows to be more like Christ in their everyday lives, they were worse than judgemental. They refered to the group of rehab guys as 'The Drug Dealers' all afternoon and made jokes about them. Normally this would have washed over me, and I would have proably joined in, but having spoken to this bloke, and found such respect for him, I was appaled. It led to a bit of a row between me,my flatmate and her freinds and family, but hey!*

That's my story folks. Sorry about the rant.

The problem with this is incomplete information. They neglected to mention that the non-smoking vegetarian war hero happens to have been jailed for 10 years. Or that he has written a book in which his dissociation with reality is readily apparent. Or the megalomania part...

Hitler was married. He married his mistress I think 2 days before he killed himself while they hid in his bunker during the invasion of berlin.

Lightning that is the point.

They could have put nelson mandella on that list and said how much time he spent in prison and dug up a couple of dirty facts about him and it would be the same thing.

I met the nicest guy at spinning last night. He was homeless, smelly, and getting occasional work as a male prostitute.

probably the best conversationalist i've met in a few months! i had a great time spinning with him, he showed me some awesome tricks on diabolo, i demonstrated how good i was at whacking myself with my staff....

we spent three hours talking, laughing, sharing, spinning, and in the end he even took me to see the hotdog van he's squatting in this week.

Dont judge a person by their past, their colour, their job, their clothes, their living situation....

just look at their heart
