loads of poeple were having a go though... i tihnk i might bring them in more often... ill get away with it to cos im a 6th former.!

i was shocked though cos so many poeple have no idea what they are!!
is that just in the uk? or are the masses in other countires unaware of juggling toys except for juggling balls?

so ive been thinknin that when i go back to school i am going to aproach the headteacher, who i know pretty well anyway and ask her if i would be able to hold a poi class in school. have been thinking about what im going to say to her. Am thinking of putting a small booklet together explaining the history, health benifits and educational benefits which i would also be giving to the students who join i . but also going to make sure i pronounce it right (too many people have mistaken me for saying that i do porn)
have got plenty of space that i would be able to use in the school so that wouldnt be a problem.

but also could do with your opinions on weather to mention about the fire, giving warnings that its dangerous. or to leave it out???

What to do in case of fire??? LET IT BURN!

Fire, although dangerous, is much more risky from the schools point of view because of legalities such as insurance, local fire policy etc.

My uni used to have a twirling club, but that was unbelievably successful and turned into NICA (National Institute of Circus Arts) and now trains professional performers. Very little to no people know about poi, but when I talk about fire-twirling a few more people have an idea what I'm rambling about.

Kupo!

Are you still at school? Or have you left?

If you're still there, I'm sure there's plenty of opportunities to do some spinning.

Talent shows, stuff like that. Or you could volunteer yourself for some performances at maybe a school function or something...

But yeah!

Unofficial spinning is waaaaaaaaaaaay more fun smile

I always see little kids spinning at Confluence on sundays, but concidering that I live in the Columbine neck of the woods (we're fond of school violence here, if somebody's not getting shot they're getting cracked in the back of the head with a hunk of rebar) the schools are not keen on any form of poi here. MAYBE you could pass off a pair of glow poi if you do it on the lawn, but no way could you ever light up! Yet they would let us do gymnastics in the hallways...

My old school was well strict too.

But what I always found is that the more blatant you are when breaking the rules, the less likely you are to get busted.

And there's nothing more blatant than a good spinning sesh, eh?

At my old school the women I work with sometimes teaches circus skills in lessons! Which means I wasn't that special for being a circus freak, though they still thought it was weird! I think circus shoudl be on all schools curiculums, it mgiht make the establishment more popular smile
