Posted:(I DID search and posted to another flag thread but it's really on the wrong board, social chat, so no one replied.)

so, i ordered a set of flags from here. (HOP) I was really looking forward to them, but now i'm not sure they are what I really want.

1) They don't seem to be heavy enough for me. I want to slow things down because they look so dramatic, but i have to keep it faster than I'd prefer to keep them moving correctly. I'm debating whether to try modifying them and adding weight, or making my own from scratch instead.

2) While they are bright, I LOVE the look of the sheer iridescent ones. And I'm not crazy about the noise of the material.... So, I'm also thinking maybe I should make a set because I can use any material (even if it doesn't hold up as long, not a huge deal. I sew a little, my mom sews a ton. we're crafty and have huge amounts of material lying around)

the pros? the handles/swivels. that rocks. but I could always get those parts for making a set.

So, I only got them this week, and used them for 5 minutes... Should I return them and make my own? or keep them and get used to them? I know in the end it's my choice but i'd like to hear the opinions of others who used HOP flags or made their own... I don't have a huge budget so it'd be great to get a refund or exchange them for a set of poi with tails from here... LOL

thanks ;o)

Posted:Or Purdy's from UK. My personal faves. Weighted just right. In the meantime you could add some extra weighting to the lower edge. Haberdashery/curtain shops usually have that sort of thing.

Fab flags are really superior flags. Ask Clare on here about them. As Gabe hug said ass moer weight by using curtain weights. I use a string of metal weights covered in a tube of cloth and they work well as weights.

I like my HOP flags, its a nice weight change and they are bright as .

Posted:lovely, am really curious about these faberges... is there a link to a place with more info or should I ask Clare?

I've got a pair from oddballs and have a love/despair relationship with them.. they're gorgeous and the weight's good, but they're different sizes to each other?!

After a while, I don't think I'd exchange them though, have grown too attached smile

Hellos biggrin

If you want to get in touch with Lisa/Faberge about her flags, please PM me... she's not on here that often, but I can send you her email addy.

Lisa's flags are fantastic to play with... really well weighted, gorgeous range of colours, can be hyperlooped and thrown, and can be made smaller too - just wrap the top bit around your hand for added speed biggrin

Still haven't been able to buzzsaw them yet without tangling... but it could be possible... just have to work out how to hold them smile

She's working on her website... and I don't have any great pics to link you too... ermmm... Pm me and I'll send you some pics.

ditto
They're wicked flags - custom 2-tone colour schemes, beautifully weighted and you can actually use them like normal poi eek

I vaguely remember agreeing to make the website for Lisa in place of her making 'Toast costumes... Hmmm.
Also, what about those lovely pics we took at the lighthouse and the resevoir?
Or were they just for your own viewing pleasure? wink

was off the radar for a bit, no internet, but all is back to normal now...

so nice to hear all of the lovely comments about "Fab Flags" biggrin

my flags are quite heavily weighted and can be used to do every trick you can do with poi; wraps, isolations, hyperloops, throws etc. and can be custom made in any colour (also UV) or size. please pm me if your interested & i'll mail photos of the various colours, price etc.

*pokes paul* - yes, make me a webiste smile

i'm thinking of exchanging the HOP ones for one of their ultra-poi sets... I'll see. I spent too much money last month so i'm extra short on cash now!
