I could babble on for hours over how wonderful (most of) those trees were... but... really... how could some *IDIOT* rubber stamp the destruction of a 5000+ year old tree?

and rougie...? ye, I've never liked topiary for the same reason... it might be clever and all, but trees are beautiful enough all by themselves. you don't need to bend them to your will to "improve" them.

Really interesting to see the crafted trees: I went to see an old banyan tree on my holidays, and was thinking how great it would be to make a house out of a tree, although it would take to long to grow it from one tree, the idea of grafting trees together to make a living structure is an interesting one...

i never liked the idea of it either pogo, i think it stems from during the era where man was just learning about science and we thought we could controll everythin cool
