Hello, hello and welcome to the all-new, shiny thread for fire dancers, spinners, object manipulators, drummers, musicians and anyone else interested in these arts anywhere in Ireland.

Our community started coming together a few years ago, and it's grown to include people from all over the country...

If you are new to poi or staff or spinning stuff and want to meet up with any of the Irish spinners, please post in this thread, introduce yourself and feel free to come along to the workshops, gatherings or events that get talked about.

Also, if you'd like to be on my mailing list for fire gatherings and other juggling events, please PM me your email address and I'll add it. The fire gathering takes place fortnightly in Belfast, but it's one way to keep in touch with everyone.

So welcome, and hope to see you soon wave

Hip Hip Hurrah and all that to Helen on your bday!

on other news: Trinity has finished up indoor sessions for the summer. They've put crowd control barriers up around the Pav for the last few weeks, so the consensus was that we'd return to Merrion Square Park on Tuesdays instead.

Lisa and I might not be around either...

I think we have work... but I know Lisa has a wedding she's to go to on the 9th.

Maybe the Sunday is good... but not sure.

Are these dates definite?

Ronan, Clare's coming to UberParis too, & i thought Aidan & Amelie were... well in fact i just assumed they were... if they're not, slap them, they should be!

Oooohh... so much stuff to go to this summer, & not enough time or money to do it all unfortunately. Well at least there's Burning Man bounce

By the way, Ian Dunne, did i meet you at Burning Man in 2005? i remember meeting some irish lads from Sligo who came by our camp, in fact i think i have a photo of one of them smoking my duck. I was there with my brother who incidently is also called Ian Dunne eek would be good to hook up with you guys this year.

damn, i forgot about the wedding on the 9th. urghhh.... what to do...

well the wedding is in mountmellick which isn't too far from birr, but i had hoped to get my hair done & wear a posh frock. the couple getting married are mental, so i know the party's going to last all night, maybe even the entire weekend, so arriving in birr on sunday is very unlikely.

i probably won't make it to birr frown

It's a fantastic convention, with lots of brilliant performers... but UberParis in a few weeks is definitely the one for spinners to go to...

Free accom, cheap flights from Dublin and ridiculous amounts of inspiration...

But... James, it's UberParis... flights costs about 70 euro from dublin, and accom is provided... the weekend costs about 60/70 euro... and it's Uber!

Definitely worth it biggrin

hug to everyone who sent birthday wishes, and to the rest of you as well smile

There's a juggly-spinny related event on this Friday in Spirit, in Dublin, which some of you will be aware of from other forums.

Anton, who has been involved with the Dublin Juggling Convention and the DIT juggling soc on and off over the years is shaving off his dreads for charity (Children's Cambodian Charity), and throwing a renegade as well, and having breakdancers, DJ's...sounds like a good night.

It's free for juggly spinny types (but please sponsor him on the night - it's a good cause), if anyone wants me to email them the pass that you need to get in free, PM me, and I'll pass it on. And don't worry if you don't know us all - it's the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself! And bring your toys!

Here's Anton's blurb about it, from the Emerald Circus list:

yo yo yo party people

The time is near!!!!

This is my Confirmation email telling you all the official date time and

Then the Break Dancers get to battle it out on the dance floor with

Dj Bass, Dj Djamel, D j Will Kinsella and Dj Who's he? spinning their tunes

unable to attach the pass to this group email.

There are 8 passes layed out on the page, you can print out an UNLIMITED AMOUNT
and cut off as many as you need, Passes are only valid until 12:30 so come
early to avoid disappointment. forward on this email to all your friend that
might be interested so they can print off their free pass

If you would like to perform on the night or have any questions you can email me
at antonshaircut@...
