shalom salam!
in all the threads posted so far there has never been an all-israeli spinning thread. so i'm happy to be the first to post it
my name is oren and at the time of writing these lines i'm not in israel but in melburne - australia.
i went traveling about 4 months ago, and it's a poi learning trip for me. so far i've been in thailand for a month and spent about 2 weeks in pai with some great poi spinners from all over the world. after thailand i went to new zealand and was busking (street performing) for 3 months with some succses. i came to melbourne a week ago and i'm trying to get to as many fire spinning meetings as i can.
i started spinning poi, like many other of us israeli's, whan i was in thailand on august 2003 when i went traveling after finishing the army. i've been spinning ever since and it did me a lot of good.
israel is a small country but is full of very special people, many of them did some poi while travelling but stopped after coming back home.
there are some amazing spinners of international level and some good fire / drumming gatherings during summer in tel aviv.
but since it's such a small country we should be able to start a real community that will meet regularly and provide people with some knowledge about where to find other spinners to practice with.
as for now, a good friend called gal baran is organizing big fire meetings. gal has a list of over 140 fire spinners that receive updates about interesting fire events, some of which are soon to come:))
you are more than welcome to write gal and leave your details so the he can let you know when something interesting is happening.

home of poi is an Internet site that is about westerner poi spinning mostly. there are very very few Muslim spinners registered for example. i would like to see some Muslim spinners in Israel and I'd like them to come to the gatherings and to invite me to the ones that they have.
I'll be checking on this thread every time i can now and I'll do my best to keep it alive long enough so it will start being a vivid connection between all Israeli spinners of poi, staff or every other thing you have in mind.

i've been working on a poi routine with elhanan for IJC2007, it's getting pretty good now.
by the way, did you do street shows in israel? how much did you make? (we'll need some PLAY money so we're planning on doing some shows)

no, i'm not reallt angry
the thing is that you need to tell the people that watch your show that you are doing it for money and that you are not paid by anyone alse but them.
i reccomend the midrachov in netania by the way, look in to it. let me know how your doing.
and don't kill anyone.

there are juggling meetings on mondays in tel aviv. 19:00 at matnas shapira.

I'm working on Angel Wings, and anything over my head basically. Still hitting myself plenty... Can't even get the overhead butterfly. :-(
I also liked the Barrel Roll i saw today (on https://www.poipoi.info/tuition/tuition-socks.php ) so that may be my next move (at least it's not over the head!).
And yes, summer is slowly coming to NY... a little too slowly (but patience was never my strong side!).
Hey, has anyone ever been able to spin while also carrying a bag or wearing a jacket? doesn't seem possible to me... wish it was! so i could spin while walking/carrying stuff and when it's cold outside.

IJC2007 was awesome. just 5 days of being disconnected from reality. i can't believe i have to go back to school soon after such a great week.
the fire show was good, but my routine kinda sucked
the open stage was really good, some really good routines there.
the israeli show was really good, our routine really went great, and i hope we'll make it to COL2007 with it. the rest of the show was really good too with some really amazing routines and some very creative routines.
the international show was, as usual, incredible.
i cant wait for the next fire night at drums beach

i'm just back from the most amazing festival in the australian bush 5 hours north of melbourne. my fingers are so black and cracked... uf it was good:)

the ijc was really great. i think there were much more poi and staff people this year. there was a fire open stage too which was really cool. all the shows i saw were awesome. especially the israeli show.

oren, there was a huge rise in the number of people doing poi.
my advanced poi workshop didnt turn to a beginners workshop like the last one i tried doing. and people are learning moves i worked months on in a matter of minutes (airwraps for example).
im hoping to convince itsik to get some guest who's good at poi for IJC2008
