Hello everyone and welcome to PLAY FESTIVAL 2007!!

Please forgive me for the lack of info, I have no computer to use and it'll be a few weeks more until I'm able to update it more often. I'll come back and put more up as and when I can.

Hopefully most of this info you'll have gotten from our newsletter, if not sign up to it on the website now! www.playfestival.co.uk

We had a wonderful 5 days last year and can only say that 2007 will be even better!

Thanks to everyone who came last year and who gave us feedback on what they thought of the festival, we've taken all comments on board and hope we can make the festival one that you'll enjoy even more than the last.

The dates for this years festival will be Wednesday 25th - Sunday 29th July and we will be at the same venue, Fordhall Farm in Market Drayton, Shropshire. The tickets will be £35 in advance and £40 on the door, that will include most workshops, 4 nights camping, the shows and other entertainments during the festival

We have lots planned for this years festival, more areas to play in with the emphasis on getting everyone involved, we will have a proper go at the world record after last years attempt didn't go so well (although it does look awesome on video!!!) and of course the usual abundance of workshops to keep you all busy in the day.

We'll have two stages this year, the main stage/tent and and nice little caberet tent, a solar powered cinema, a PROPER bar & food tent and a few more folks selling the stuff you want to buy (even if you don't realise it yet! heheh)

New for this year will be the PLAY HOP Amateur Performance of the year. It's a little competition we've come up with that can be entered by anyone for any type of performance. No more than 4 minutes long with a cash prize for the winner and the chance to feature on the next PLAY DVD. As you might guess from the title the event is sponsored by HomeofPoi.com (who have proudly given us the prizes for our games over the last two years). More details will follow soon...

The DVD of last years festival will be out at some point, probably exactly at the time we plan it to come out wink Focusing more on spreading knowledge to learn the arts than the last DVD and we're sure it'll knock your socks off!

If you want to contact us about anything please email us at one of the following addresses:

info@playfestival.co.uk

comments@playfestival.co.uk

volunteers@playfestival.co.uk

traders@playfestival.co.uk

If anyone wants specific footage from last years festival please wait until after the DVD is out, Strugz & co are busy enough editing the full thing to start making cuts for people! Thanks smile

As my internet access is sporadic at best till my pc is up and running, I might not be able to reply to email straight away, if you want to talk to me about anything call me on 07814 018091 and if you don't get an answer LEAVE A VOICEMAIL!

Keep checking the website for the latest information and we'll send out newsletters as often as we can.

hugs & smiles

Dunc hug

If a cold shower was what you were after why not just kneel under the tap? tongue
I actually dont mind not having them there.
I know people, myself included winge about it a bit towards to the end of the festival, but going home and having a long hot shower makes me appriciate the luxurys I have a whole lot more.
The tap was enough for me to wash my hair and have a splash around to make myself feel a bit fresher.

Also wasnt there a problem of what to do with the grey water if PLAY did invest in some (I'm assuming horribly expensive?) showers?

I had a shower under the tap on thursday and saturday so I was pretty fresh smile

When it's sunny I don;t mind going under the tap, but if it's cold and rainy then I probably wouldn't like it.

But, it's a festival, everyone stinks, and it's only for a few days.

Baby wipes and deodorant have never failed us stinkers before! ubblol

As far as showers go, I was doing fairly regular trips to the local swimming pool where there were showers

Would be helpful but not necessary, it's in easy reach of Brum, specially once I get my licence and a car (or borrow the missus's).

But I want, nay NEED, it to be on a weekend when I can actually come! ...or I'll EXPLODE, showering alphanumeric characters EVERYWHERE!

I think Dunc or one of his helpers mentioned earlier (near the start anyway) that this would be the weekend it will be on in future frown any comments from the high and mighty biggrin

it should be a whole week, 3 days is tooooo short! a whole week of PLAY with the option to come for a few days before/after... then i'll take 2 weeks off to make up for all the times i've missed it biggrin festivals are always tooooo short frown wots with you islanders, just on the weekend?! do you get the same lack of holiday days as the americans? or do you just waste them all on other less-important festivals? wink just quit your job or take some unpaid time and do 3 months of festivals, that's my plan for next year ubbrollsmile

I played loads and didn't arrive until 8 pm wink maybe you guys weren't trying hard enough ubblol just because there aren't workshops, it doesn't mean you can't play.

I planned to arrive at 12 noon but unforseen circumstances delayed me and I still had a good night including an act in the renegade tongue

Personally, I thought it was nice not having much stuff on Weds and Sun as it gave people time to mix, mingle, play and do whatever.

If all 4/5 were organised it might get a little too much.
If it was a full 7 days mind you, could spread the workshops out a lot more, allowing for more play time and such like.

I thought it was good the way it was, time-wise. 7 days is too long for a lot of people who work and don't have that much holidays, even as it was, there were quite a few who only turned up on Thursday/Friday due to work, and if there was even more stuff going on earlier in the week they'd miss out on too much. And you'd have to look into changing the day ticket policy, too wink

Seconded. The first thing I did on Wednesday after I'd put up my tent was go around meeting people (and what nice people they were too smile ) but if there had been stuff on I might have been inclined to do that rather than make friends.

I missed the renegade on wednesday night. I was gutted. I was up at the firespinning area supervising the fire marshal. Damn inclination towards safety of others...

i thought it was just perfect - all of it! i think in the whole few days i only missed one workshop i had wanted to go to, and played till i could play no more on every one of the days! aaaaand i still had time to meet people, and play, and learn, and watch all the other stuff going on. mind you i slept for about 36 hours when i finally got home... but it was just the right mix i thought. im just a little sad that we had to leave so early on sunday frown

if i could be a busy busy bee...
