~*~ COMMON GROUND 2007 TEASER ~*~

!!!!!!!!!*********COMMON GROUND SITE IS UPDATED*********!!!!!!!!!!!!

www.common-ground.net

we will be updating it progressively as we confirm / think of stuff closer to the date.

------------------

Greetings to all you fine, dandy, spangley and sparkly people!!

Just putting the word out…..

Common Ground is an Annual object manipulation and lifestyle meeting held from Friday the 5th of October to Monday the 8th of October. It's aimed specifically at people who want to relax, have fun, share and learn in a positive and supportive environment.

Set in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, the location has ample room for camping, workshops and more.

Mainly focussing on (but by no means limited to) Twirling, Dance, Music and Circus related skills. Workshops cover a very wide range of different interests and skill levels. From complete novice to professional performer, we think we have something for you.

Core to the concept is participation. The event is created by those who attend sharing their skills and experiences with others - to borrow a phrase thrown around at Burning Man:

"No Spectators, only Participants."

Although, if doing every workshop isn’t you style - just chill out and contribute to the relaxed, happy atmosphere.

Confirmed Dates:

Friday 5th October

Saturday 6th October

Sunday 7th October

Monday 8th October

The dates are a week later this year giving the crew time to be completely set up and running by the time people arrive Friday morning.

Friday – arrive anytime, gates will be open at 8am. Workshops start in the afternoon.

Saturday – **Show**

Sunday – TBA

Monday – workshops and offsite by after lunch.

We have already had some reservations on workshops these include:

Yoga

Drumming

Learn how to DJ

Yogaeria

TICKETS – Limited to 150!! And yes they will sell out!

Early bird - $30 booking before August 31st

Just missed the worm - $40 September 1st – October 4th

Missed the boat - $50 on the door if there are any remaining - there weren't last year

Please email if you would like an EB ticket – go on be the first you know you want too!

IDEAS: for workshops and contributions most welcome.

As in 2005 and 2006 – there will always be smiles, fun, madness, music, dancing and laughing.

Stay tuned for future updates.

Cheers,

Kate and the Common Ground Crew

Thanks Katinca smile
I didn't actually mean take me by the hand and look after me though... thought it might be useful for visiters to know some of the nice spots to visit.
Like "save a day to walk up mount hippapotami" or, they sell the best ice-cream at *insert name*.
I am feeling like a total tourist - but though that would be a bit more personal then lonely planet.
Anyway... staying with a friend of a friend that lives out in the bush... so they'll be plenty to do if I just 'splor round there. smile
Oh, and i'm sure you'll have plenty of helpers for the packing (if you mean for event stuff - don't want to fold your undies wink). I'll certainly volunter - it'll go with my over-keen tourist image i'm working on... and my bumbag and over-sized camera.

So, provided leave and flights go according to plan, looking forward to meeting you, Katinca

icarus - adelaides pretty nice place to hang around in.

depends what your after mind but it has nice parks, cool markets, galleries and museums (recommended (and i'm not cultured at all). good bush walks and if you have a car and a bit of time then there is eve more stuff you can get upto.

i think josh and kate have my lonely planet. when you get there you should have a flick through it

How cheap are tents over there? I won't be carrying mine all the way there on the plane!

Oh yeah, will need to purchase new firetoys over there due to airline regulations!

Oh yeah! I'm coming to Australia in September! biggrin

Great to hear your coming!

tents are cheapish - but setting yourself up to cope with 0-5 degrees overnight will cost a little more (although, you should bring at least a good sleeping bag with you). smile

A note to first time Common Grounders; please don't under-estimate how cold it gets at night. If you are ready for it you will be fine - if you aren't well...you might find the night-times a bit uncomfortable. Many first time CG'ers come a little under prepared for the temperature drop at night.

During the day tho - the sun can be quite warm, so also - dont under-estimate your ability to get burned in the sun - we will be doing our best on the shade / shelter front this year - but yeah, a hat is always a good move.

If your sleeping bag says its good down to zero, thats usually including you wearing all your clothes if you want to be comfy. I'd suggest a bag with a minus 5 or 10 rating or a lot of bed-friends wink

*tear*... I've been taking my time with a decision... I will not be coming to Common Ground '07... Not that I think many will remember me but I was there for '06... There are two major reasons for not coming...

1. My girlfriend Holly and I will be parents in mid august, Camping and newborns don't mix people.

and

2. I'm moving to Tasmania... today or tomorrow. I will try very much to come back for '08 and you can meet my beautiful baby boy or girl smile

Have lot's of fun for all of us not able to be there... and even more fun for yourself smile... Love you all, Jack

OZ freezing is anything below 0° C !!! Which is what it can be like at nights at CG. ( maybe -a little bit?)

The difference between that and Brit freezing is that the temp then gets into the (even high) 20's during the daytime... so ya can thaw out again. As one of those severely stricken by the night temps there last year, I say Pay Attention to Josh. He Knows.
