Hi
I was playing a 'Devil May Cry 3' and I got myself a new weapon called cerberus. Following this however is a very cool FMV demonstration of ways in wich this weapon can be maipulated.

For those that haven't played DMC3 it looks like a 3 handled nun chuk with a circular ring in the middle

I did think that some of the moves lent themselves more to creative licence but the majority of it looks quite possible.

I have recently begun to build a fire cerberus but a lack of large drill bits is making life difficult, all the same I'm not far from finishing. ubbloco

i googled it a couple of times myself and it never came up but you can probably see it at the 'Devil May Cry' web site. Alternately play DMC3 coz the second boss is a giant three headed demon dog that guards the gates to hell. once you've killed him you get a weapon that is conected to his soul. In this case a tripple nun chuk thing with big nasty spikes, quite fun to use as well.

And now to current news

I've finished making cerberus

It's ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE

It spins quite well but me thinks a couple of week practice may be warrented before my first burn.

I will try to upload a vid of the fire cerberus in full action ASAP

There's an awful lot of metal on poi and staff but i still use them but that is beside the point. I understand what your getting at (Much metal = probable burns)however i have taken that into consideration.

While playing around I noticed that i kept catching cerberus by the wick so i got myself some leather gardening gloves to protect my hands and like hell am i gonna spin anything without propper clothing. I normally spin in a long sleave T, good jeans and a beanie however when practicing new tricks with fire i usually add my wax cotton jacket to the mix aswell.

just a thought: if you modified the central ring to a more fire fan style grip that might make it a bit easier to do stuff centred around the middle?

something like this shape -o- across the middle so you can grip it and spin it more easily..

Wow great work, you've inspired me to build one. smile

Reguarding the heat buildup, try moves that give you releif and mix them into your burn to let you release some of that heat. You also tend to build up a tolerance to heat with time.

If the handles were made out of wood or covered in something other than metal you could probably go without the longsleeve shirt and only loose some hair. The metal will brand you instantly whereas hot wood or even wick won't do anything to you if it hits you.

Your on the cutting edge, push it but be carefull.

Thank you for sharing. smile

Cheers for the input people.

So far as the ring goes i'm quite happy with the chucks sliding around it just takes time to learn how to keep them seperated and i'm going to use bike innertubes (they work well so long as your glue doesn't dissolve in petrochemicals)

Yeah update for those that care
In the end i used leather grip and if you remember me saying that the heat transfer was a bitch, well it still is and the leather has curled and pulled away from the glue, however I'll atempt a repair but if that fails then I'm going to try a different style of leather grip which has proven it's worth (when in close and prolonged proximity to flame) on my missuses short staff.

I'm impressed with your cerebus its really well done and your still improving it which is cool i'm definatly gonah keep an eye on this forum. Do you have to glue the leather on perhaps there is a way of stitching it onto itself?
I don't know much haha but its worth a try aint it?
Good luck *shakes hand* smile

I'd suggest rivets but that just allows the heat to pass through to the hand again....

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

take a long strip, rivet one end, then wrap it over the rivet and around the handle until you get to the other end, you might have to use a rivet or glue at the far end, but hopefully the heat won't have transferred that far?

I don't know if you'd be right about that, coz the heat transfer is intense even for a seasoned (semi) Pro like me.
However your rivet idea might work well if I do it propperly

Looks interesting and intriguing.

what about leather sheaths? Sewn and slipped on, not glued?
I have laces that wrap for a snug fit.

Perhaps making the next one a bit longer for more area of grip?

Lots to think about! Thanks!
