Wow...just...Wow

It left me speechless for awhile.

The length of her extensions and the fluidity and grace with which she presents herself is glorious.
The combination of contortion, ballet and acrobalance is simply stunning.

I am blown away.

Right Fyrespirit! And I swear it looks like she has zero joints at all.

I just watched it again and the strength he has to allow her to dance across his arms like that, and he isn't even showing strain...one more level of wow.

Pepole are pointing (or pointe-ing haha pun) Because this amazing piece (based on a traditional story/1950's violin concerto and produced for a Chinese New Year TV show) was posted [Old link] on Drew's blog. No harm in highlighting it in this thread though eh, it is an amazing piece indeed, and now buried many pages back there.

As well as being stunning to look at, this vid made me ponder on the torture and agony that young chinese acrobats/dancers go through to learn their art. Read Mao's Last Dancer on that one...

Also how amazingly silent and unresponsive the audience are!!

Cultural difference in one easy lesson when compared to the audience reaction to this graceless stomping. (also gleaned from Drew's treasuremine of video goodness!)

Here is another Chinese New Year production:

Thousand Hands of Compassion

... the dancers in this one are deaf!

It is on Youtube too but the resolution here is better.

.....Can't juggle balls but I sure as hell can juggle details....

No kidding, Gabe!!! I'd like to see one of those stompers do the thing that the butterfly girl does on her partner's head...
That one foot on his head...the other leg straight up and her bent completely over backwards...that is the human body in it's most beautiful form...truly gorgeous!!! (don't know the dance terms...sorry!)

that is the definition of graceful and fluid dance. and that's one strong dude too.

i can understand the lack of crowd responce too, i imagine they were all as mesmerised as i was.

FoxinDocs, I thought the same think..about the audience. I was hoping they were stupified.

I did think about the conditioning they go through when they are children, and how accepting they are of it. Many Russian performers go through the same thing, and yet, many of them as adults are grateful for it, so it's hard to judge right or wrong.

Love you too PK hug kiss ubblove

Thinks of the old ladies that binded their feet..

(saw this on tele the other night) i'd imagine that is some kind of relationship to doing that and going through the sort of training that would be required from such an early age to arrive at such a level of performance and skill as shown in this video.
