ok this is a trick that has become kind of an in joke at the cambridge spins, but i wantto see if anyone can actually do it, we came up with "The longest name for a poi move", but i want to see if it is actually possible, with video evidence!!

i bring you...DUN DUN DUUUUN!!
the "Atomic-Antispin-Butterfly-Buzzsaw-Flower-Fountain"

now i cant do it, and i don't know anyone who can....but i wanna open the challenge up to the world and see if any of you can do it!!

wellllll, I don't know what inverted cross points are. What are they?

Split time currently makes no sense for doubles (unless you#re super interested in hand positions), quarter time would be more interesting.

As does isolated flowers, unless you want me to isolate around a 3/4 point on the staff, or hold it on a 3/4 point and isolate the centre?

Finally: Is the long hand the 3 (as in 3:1), and the short the 1, or is it the other way around?

Pfff excuses, excuses Meg...
The "split time" is in the arms, so they meet at 3 & 9 instead of 6 & 12
I'll let you choose the isolated part (only the 3 isolates mind you) leading on to:
Long arm 1 : short arm 3

so basically: wang your arm around in a big circle while the other arm goes crazy and does something wierd?

Sounds a bit easy. I think you should choose something more difficult.

Think that perfectly sums up pretty much all spinning doesn't it?
I'd only add "sometimes letting go"

"Atomic-Antispin-Butterfly-Buzzsaw-Flower-Fountain"

Well i think this has probably been said but i've got some time ot kill.

No Atomic AND Butterfly:
Atoms exist at the exact point between your normal butterfly and weave planes, so you can't really have an atomic butterfly. You can however take an pattern, like 3bt weave, 4bt butterfly etc and make it atomic.

No Flower AND Fountain
Fountain is any move where both hands travel around the same giant circle at the same time in the same direction. Flower is when your hands go different giant circles, or directions etc. So you can't have both.

So that leaves us with a few moves:

1) "Atomic-Antispin-Buzzsaw-Flower"
2) "Atomic-Antispin-Buzzsaw-Fountain"
3) "Atomic-Antispin-Flower"
4) "Atomic-Antispin-Fountain"

Plus a few others that aren't too hard

so then you need to consider 'Atomic Antispin'

Does that mean:
(A)
left arm and left poi on 1 plane, doing antispin
and
right arm and right poi on 90degree plane, doing antispin

OR does it mean:
(B)
left arm on 1 plane and left poi on 90 degree plane, (not sure how antispin would work)
and
right arm on 1 plane and right poi on 90 degree plane, (not sure how antispin would work)

From all that i'd say:

4A is doable,
3A slightly harder, but also doable
2A and
1A are hard, but possible with short poi

The B's are all harder but not soooo hard, give it a year and everyone will be doing it.

wink

Turning isolated antispun split-time-arm 3-to-1 polyrhythm long-arm/short-arm butterfly flower with inverted cross points?

Matt, fancy a challenge? wink
Although for clarification, only the "3" can invert at the cross point (or the "1" is no longer a "1") and it's the arms that are split time, the poi are standard.

the odd thing about the move is the cross points are at 4:30 and 7:30 (ish) as it's a 3 petal flower...
Well, and an stupid move, but the main odd thing is the cross points wink

nah not really... sometimes the arms do the same thing. Which looks way better I think, that having a rampant long arm wanging it's way around in a circle, while the other one actually does something.

sounds pretty much like a move for a long exposure photo, not for a video.

Ok...buzzsaw atomic sorted...it's doable, but I can't say that I really like it, but maybe that has something to do with my not being good at it.

This talk of an atomic fountain, however has got me really really excited. biggrin and I know what I'm working on today.

As to wanging your arm around in a big circle while your hand does something. I'm finding that spinning an antispin flower with one hand, while doing a hand wrap with the other hand gives an interesting effect that contrasts the biggest poi "move" possible ( ok,other than throws ) with the smallest one possible.
