It's 2007, so what are your goals for this year?

I'm not real sure what mine are yet, I'll come back and edit this when I know them, but I do know a couple for sure: go to uberparis, and finish the LAB series of videos.

biggrin

What are yours? Remember a year is a long time...

okay... my goals:

:: Tell a story, or at least communicate something other than "I can do staff well" in a routine.

:: learn a couple more performance styles.

:: get my knee better and do more acrobatics.

:: learn contact doubles, and possibly long doubles also.

:: make more comedy non-fire staffs.

:: learn to juggle three staffs

:: quit my job. go to circus school.

:: learn roue cyr smile

:: make more doubles tutorials.

achievable aim: do more staff. Singles and doubles.

maybe... aim: learn some inside prayer contact (if I've got that right)

bucketloads! cos I don't have much under my belt to begin with... wait that didn't come out right... I got plenty under my belt, just not a lot of contact... damnit, that's not right either...

ignore all that...

* make halo more consistent
* learn fishtails
* learn steve - aka stop the staff from shooting straight up in the air
* whatever follows

get the four staff shower at a level where i can do nine catches with the snake and sweep((does anyone know the technical term for this bit?)) at the bottom ,on fire at night,in other words,get four staff clean enough to perform,

write a whole new section of tricks to add to my two staff routine,

get lots of work for me and others using my soon to be online website and promo dvd

clean up ,improve and perform the routine i do(pirahana sticks)with jago from full moon

co-write and start to build a new two person fire with tall pete

convince at least one person that the phrase.."more speed less control",is both inaccurate and damaging to this thing of ours(i feel a thread coming)

Practise.

I'm very good at not doing any. And therefore pants at staff.

New house may mean space in which to do this, but may also b****r up time to do it in.

'Course anyone who wants to visit and teach me stuff is most welcome, although may also get roped into tree/hedge planting, pond / veg garden digging, fencing (for once not the sword variety!), stable building, chicken feeding, manege construction, concrete removing, painting and other such entertaining tasks! biggrin

complete freedom of movement in the basic variations of double fishtails
Learn more anti-spin, isolations stuff (I'm such a cliche)
Have developed my contact staff system to a level where I can teach it (at least once)
Produce at least one experimental staff video
Be able to bitchslap Laura for being so cheeky, while playing contact staff spank

Well, as a beginner, its easy to know what my task is for 07...

* Understand.

When practing these beginner contact moves (Halo Rolls for example) I just don't understand where the staff is suppose to rest/spin. tongue I watch the videos and read the articals, it says it rolls on your upperback and you turn with it.

HOW?!

*Learn my limited repetoire of contact moves both ways (current achievements are conveyors and SNESs)

*Total freedom of movement with closed-grip spinning (I'm still weak spinning my 'wrong way')

*Doubles, they look fab and I want to learn, so I will.

*Get to a place where good staffers are and spin, 'cause I don't know anyone around here that spins sticks at all.
