Its All Go!!!

the new uberevents website is now ready!

uberevents.org

it has AAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the info on UberParis:

follow the links through 'upcoming events' to UberParis biggrin

the booking form is the last menu item...

much smiliness at ubercentral biggrin

here is the general info:

Non-Https Image Link

General Info

• It starts at 1pm on Friday the 15th June, and finishes at 8pm on Sunday 17th June.

• It's at the Gymnase DUPLEIX, place Dupleix, 28 rue Edgar FAURE, 75015 Paris.

• It's being hosted by the amazing Burn Crew Concept.

• Its going to be slightly different to UberEurope: there will only be workshops and shows (and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, but not other meals) at the venue: we decided that it was better to have people coming to the venue JUST for the workshops, not staying there as well. This means better focus = better workshops = a better event. Yippeeeee.

Teachers

The following UberTeachers will be providing workshops for this event:

Meast (BCC)

Jay (Fire Fantasy)

Steph (Fire Fantasy)

Olive (Paris)

Dave Knox (Flame Oz)

Ronan (Ireland)

Ros (JAM)

Rob (Uber, JAM)

Meg (MCP)

Click here to find out just what they'll be teaching you (info will be constantly updated).

Tickets

There is a limited number of tickets, and there are 4 price levels:

Early Bird (first 20, or until April 1st, whichever comes first) - 65Euros

Professional Performer (limited to 20) - 65 Euros

Full Price (advance) - 75 Euros

Full Price (on door) - 80 Euros

To book, please fill out the booking form, and you will be contacted with details of payment.

Accommodation

Unfortunately we were unable to arrange accommodation at the venue this time. So this is what we're doing: If you can find a place to stay in Paris, please do. If you can't find somewhere to stay please mark YES in the 'Accommodation Required' box on the booking form. We will then put you in touch with an obliging host, however spaces are limited so do please try to find somewhere to stay beforehand.

Travel

Here is a map showing the approximate location. We will update it with a more accurate one including details of buses and metro routes.

From the UK:

Eurostar bookings are not available until the 14th of February for the 14th of June. I will be trying to arrange a promotional deal for those travelling, but am not yet sure of the minimum numbers needed. Eurostar is the quickest and most environmentally friendly way to get to the centre of Paris from the centre of London.

National Express have a return from £37 from London, if you are happy to be a little more squeezed.

If you are travelling by car/van from the UK, please do not travel alone: it is cheaper and again more environmentally friendly to share travel with others, not to mention more sociable! Speedferries currently have the cheapest channel crossing - £60 return fare for 4 people in a car, or £80 return for 3 or 4 people in a van.

From other countries:

I would like to fill up this section with cheap travel options from various countries. If you know the website for cheap, environmentally friendly travel in your country, please email me the details and I will add them on the website and here.

Austria]https://www.oebb.at/vip8/pv/en/Travel_within_Europe/Discount_products/]Austria

All travellers:

If you really must fly (here is a reason why you shouldn't), please at least offset the carbon you use, with climatecare.org. Thank you for helping to keep our world a better place.

Yup...what an awesome weekend smile It's all pretty much been covered so I won't again.

Big up to BCC. Big up to Rob. Special shout out to Olive: you are the HOMME for letting us all into your home smile

Josh...great article, however there are definitely people working with propane (by the sounds of it, not to the same degree as in SF), and many people have worked with coloured flames (I think the general consensus seems to be that they're hassle for not much effect. *Please prove me wrong!!!*)

For mechanised stuff try "Atlantis SFX" from Berlin, UK's "Dreamon", Oz's "Temple State" and the *awesome* UK/Oz crew "Mutoid Waste Co." whose pyrotechnic prowess was on display this year at Glastonbury... I'm sure there will be much to find on the web about them by now. There is also the Robodock festival in Rotterdam that has lots of general mecha stuff and usually firey stuff. There's also an array of [censored] hot French and Spanish companies who create mega shows that usually can only be performed at government funded city festivals due to the size and nature of what they do. SO thery're harder to find but working on a much larger scale. Yes, definitely not as much as seems to be concentrated in SF but it is there and it's bloody good.

Well....roll on 2UberOz!

I still haven't got the energy to do the whole thing right now, but I feel like I should do it soon before i forget....

However, suffice to say it was absolutely incredible. great teachers, hosts, fire, performances, friendliness, amazing skills - easily the highest concentration of talented spinners I have ever seen in one place....

so:

Massive THANK YOUs to

Das and all of Burn Crew Concept, for such hard work, and for making it all possible
Shivan and everyone who hosted some lost spinners while they were in Paris
All the teachers - nothing but positive feedback, and some very, VERY inspired people left your workshops.
All the show performers - I think the consensus vote is that that show was the best spinning show ever seen, so be proud.
Particular thanks on my part to Dave Knox, who was there for the first Uberevent, and finally came back to be a big part of another one.
And of course, to my lovely Ros (FNF), who keeps me sane, at the same time as being talented, beautiful, and much better organised than me.

x
Rob

btw i heard from the people who went to the Cirque du Soleil show afterwards that some (or all?) thought Saturday's show was better! maybe someone should invite them to the next über-workshops..... but of course charge them quadruple and tack on royalties for whatever they use in their own shows wink

tons of photos, about 11,000 though down to about 9,500 right now (still lots of looking and deleting to be done!) plus a few nifty time-lapse movies which you may have seen on the projector before/after the show or at Olive's any number of times. Dunno if Rob wants to distribute them specially or if i should use my server (got a new one) but i'll try to put up some highlights as i find time, though i've been working a lot (coz i ditched work last week to stay in paris for Fete de la Musique wink so work has piled up...
