i've just finished watching the new film stranger than fiction (Absolutely Fantastic BTW), and i find myself reading the official nintendo magazine forums. sad yes, but needed.

for about a good year and a bit i've been waiting for the new gaming system from nintendo.

and its finally here, the nintendo wii....if anyone doesnt know what i'm talking about just go into your local game or gamestation and buy one of these right now.

www.wii.com

its too early to write anything with any meaning here, but i will check up here later, after an exhausting game of wii sports biggrin

anyone else as geeky as me?

I'm pretty sure Nintendo want it pronounced We, to stress the togetherness of gaming.

Pretty lame.

Much like the new controllers.

"Duh, I don't get buttons, lets swing instead."

The new smash bros game, however, looks fan-bloody-tastic.

I stil lwant the 360/PS3 more though.

I asked about the PS3 on monday in my local store.. rrp in the UK will be approx £600 eek which for what it is is expensive, also they haven't sorted out the netplay, it should be free unlike x-box live, but that means less will go into making it a really good medium for online gaming, I think I'll go with a wii (the two i's are meant to symbolise 2 people coming together hug

still loving x-box live on the 360 though wink

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

It launched in the UK this morning, only a few places did midnight launches, but literally just got back from the store with my friend that just bought one from a place that opened at 7am, all the accessories were gone after the first 19 people were served (wii were 18), and we know they'd taken at least 50 pre-orders.
People who had not pre-ordered were allowed to leave their name and number, but were then turned away from the store.

They had NO extra remotes, and very few nunchuks (maybe 15?), they only had wii play that came with a remote, and was £5 more than a separate one, so it was that or no extras, I saw at least 1 person buy it twice for that..

Sitting here watching the update bar progress, knowing it briked some wii's in the US, is agonizing (takes more than a minute or two and has happened twice with little warning the firsttime (pretty much as soon as the wifi connected)

interestingly the wristrap is that came with the system has a slightly (by .5 mm) stronger cable where it connects compared to the one that shipped with wii play.

Hyperlight, Beth and I went out to eat, played with the prototype hyperlights a bit, decided it was WAY too cold outside, and ended up playing on the Wii till 5am... biggrin

Zelda is AMAZING, I love it, played it for 4.45 b4 Hyperlight came and only just got to the start of the first dungeon (I played through ocarina, majora and wind walker real fast). All the other games John picked up (wii play, wii sports, monkey ball, rayman) are just hilarious with friends around (with 2 controllers, couldn't get hold of more), we spent hours pissing ourself with laughter smile

Haven't touched it yet today though tbh, zelda I know I wouldn't put down! (so trying to get some things done first, stared at hyperlights grinning inanely a LOT), the other games aren't nearly so good without friends, but then so few things really are smile

Osakini having fun? prolly wont see you online for an aeon now wink what did u get with it ?

remember there are 2 versions 30gb and 60 or 80gb anyway one small and one bigger...

600 however sounds way too much even for 80gb.

psp £250 + ipod video 30gb £300 comes to less than that!... wink

I lost all interest in the PS3 way back sadly, blu-ray DRM, overheat worries, no controller vibe, lame built in batteries, not ONE thing that interests me in launch line up, and nothing I've heard about that isn't going 360 also. recent comparison shots and vids (cod3) 360 looks prettier.
resolution dropdown issues, HDMI issues.

it may seriously improve later, but currently it's £600 for a very pretty blue menu system you can get on a PSP, and, erm, and what? pfff...

You're lame wink

I can't play an FPS without a mouse. I can't see how you can get any fast control without one. Anyway, I've only played halo and that sucks more than anything.

HL2, HL2DM and CS:S are all amazing, and should only be played on a PC.

i've finished halo2 co-op on xbox and i thought it was fun as. you do get used to aiming after a while. but i'd say that a mouse is definatly ftw in most fps's nowadays. playing halo with a mouse is rediculously easy, which goes to show that better and harder games can be made for pc than they can console.

dave wii will not go down in price for a probable year or 2 apparently because the set the starting price so low... it will probably stay at £180 but will come with extra's, like 2 controllers or an extra game.

I want to know if the wii plans to have an online headset to SPEAK to your mates when you play them, if not, it's missed a trick, I can't find anything to suggest online voice... how am i supposed to abuse nate when I play him if he can't hear me....

Mr Majestik, Joke was I used to play quake2 & 3 for `Clan Unreal`, wasn't anything to do with 'unreal' the game, (tho when the original game came out we did borrow their font for a bit, lol), anyway, yes, that was years back, hence the 'been there done that' comment smile

Wii's ace, stayed up far too long again last night playing Zelda, I wish I could pinch it from here to take to Edinburgh for new years to share with everyone..
