so its half six in the morning on december the 8th 2006
i've just finished watching the new film stranger than fiction (Absolutely Fantastic BTW), and i find myself reading the official nintendo magazine forums. sad yes, but needed.
for about a good year and a bit i've been waiting for the new gaming system from nintendo.
and its finally here, the nintendo wii....if anyone doesnt know what i'm talking about just go into your local game or gamestation and buy one of these right now.

I finished gear of war on hardcore and insane in a few evenings. Made me actually look forward to the next halo, as I think it'll be playable. The controller just wasn't high enough resolution for me for the others, coming from a mousing background it was just tooo much.
Mouse is still king though.

was mastere chief RUNNING in that video... now THAT would be an interesting addition to halo.
I'm Awful at gears of war.... probably why I don't play it overmuch, I'm only starting to get OK at Halo 2 now and I got it 3 days before it was released
A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

I personally love the Wii..... One of my good friends has it and let me play it for awhile.....
The Graphics really arent top knotch but the game play is pretty amazing.....
I like how nintendo is trying something new with the new controller..... It makes it so neone can pick this thing up and play it.....
Im gonna wait a couple months till the more available to by my own though.....
Its definitely not cool enough to spend 500 dollars on it on ebay.....

the wii isnt about graphics, or stupidly complext control systems that take a year to master, its about people coming together to have a [censored] load of fun, easily accessable by parents babies, grandparents great grandparents??, there's never a shortage of people to play table tennis with i've found
me and my manager at woolworths had a wii night at his house the other night, fuckling fun, although there were a few injuries lol four people in a living room flailing controllers around, hillarious
by far the most knackering game was wii boxing, that was insane on two player. winner stays on, andrew stayed on for about 4 or 5 rounds, suprised he didnt collapse. so the aftermath of that was four grown men giggling like schoolgirls waving frantically trying to hit eacch other in the face, 5 mins later, four grown men lying on the floor knackered panting like dogs after a nice run.
my chest, arms and eyes hurt after almost a week of wii gaming, havent slept in two days and dont plan on sleeping for a good hour yet, zelda calls
basically what i'm trying to say people is if you're like FRD and take too much time looking at the levels in your games and not enough time playing them go buy a three sixty (ps3s are far too expensive and what the hells with that advert,"with this much power it begs to be asked the question, is the ps3 even smarter than you" [censored] pretentious bullcrap, god i hate sony)
but if (like me) you absolutely love gaming with friends online and offline, go buy this console
plus i dont say this lightly in ANY way but Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is quite possibly the BEST game i've ever played

halo 3 looks good, though forking out for a 360 will hurt my wallet ALOT
and as i got my wii with double discount at woolworths 210 pounds for wii sports wii play and zelda TW is a price which is thoroughly raping that of microsofts 280 with no games

which is more expensive, which hasnt had one good word said about it in this thread
so just because wiiconnect24 isnt going to cost you anything doesnt mean crap, the ds wifi shows this perfectly, its free, its amazing..go buy a wii and a ds now and see hahah, i should really be a spokeperson for nintendo shouldnt i

yeah well by the same token you can play pc with an xbox controller because they are just usb cables, all you need to do is cut off the xbox connector and wire on a usb one.

There's no point hacking up xbox controllers any more just buy an xbox 360 controller, the wired ones work natively, the wireless one just need a little receiver you can buy. They're far nicer than the xbox ones, or in fact any other PC game pad, possibly even the best controller ever made to date.

Why would I want to play a PC with an xbox controller? For that 'I'm swimming in treacle" effect in every FPS? I payed more for my mouse than I did for a whole xbox (less chip and huge HDD
).I know, I could hook my PC up to my TV too, so everything is fuzzy, instead of crisp 1680x1050 head sniping goodness

FRD you're an idiot if you want a ps3 more than a wii
the ps3 graphics are on par with the 360, the games will jsut be utter [censored] untill a few years time when someone actually learns that fps games need something new to make them even slightly enjoyable anymore. thats pretty much the line up for "new" games on launch, fps' which all like mildly entertaining for about 5 mins, the 360 actually has some good games going for it, graw, graw two (announced recently) dead rising, viva la piniata, splinter cell. the wii, its just AMAZING.
so many people have said the 360 graphics are slightly better than the ps3s HAHAHAHAH you're going to pay 400-600 pounds for possibly the shittest gaming consoles ever

One of my friend had a preorder but couldn't afford it when Wii came out so I took it off him. :P

Never mind the fact that Sony only had 25% of the ps3 consoles they said they would for the release date.
They then had a hissy fit about a little company over here importing a few so we could actually get one, brought in their lawyers, and now one of the best places to get all the import gaming hardware has been closed down (Lik-Sang).
F*** Sony. I'm not buying any more of their 'only works with other Sony stuff' crap again.

Nate, old Don Brado has a Factory wrapped PS3 apparently for sale at $800 or best offer, (although he wants to sell locally) getting rid of a PS3 before they are mass available

I think the problem with blue ray is that Sony has a history or releasing recording media that no-one else wants to use, even if they are better on paper (Beta-max, mini-disc etc).
Sony's good at advanced tech, but it just costs too much for everyone else to license or produce it. The Japanese are the masters of long term business planning, but in the short term their products are a bit too advanced for most people (When I was in Japan the technology available on the high street was slightly ahead of things newly promoted, pre-release by manufaturers in the west, or about 1 year ahead).
High performance consoles don't interest me. PC's graphics systems are already at least 4 times as powerful as the Xbox360, and by the time the next generation of consoles comes out PCs will have hit the ceiling for graphics realism, and will be moving much further into the realms of physics and AI.
The Wii's controls are what makes it #1 for me.

zelda makes it for me
45 hours in 6 bosses down..
there's a VERY nasty issues with ps3 backwards compatibility coming out atm :
games with non standard texture buffers are getting seriously jaggy graphics (far worse than the ps2)

i have work too much, last night i worked for 7 hours, i juust really really really wanted to go home and play red steel, oh and incase you were contimplating buying it but the reviews put you off, most of them are utter bullcrap, i only care for the review from ign uk which is underated and the nintendo one. i'd personally give the game a good 93%
