Little update for you all (thought I'd start a new thread as the last one was getting a bit big!!). I've been a busy bee tonight and I now have 4 pairs of the MK4 (dare I say final?) boards soldered together... now to get something to put 'em in ready for Synergy!

upgraded to wxWidgets 2.8 rc3 (will probably be final according to the devs)

don't know what they've done, but everything compiles a hell of a lot faster now, and I had none of the errors I had with earlier versions, just installed, created the env var, compiled and was away.

....and it's good biggrin

I've worked out how to sort out the interlacing problem. I've also worked out to add the trails. Just need a way to sort out the frame overlaps now:

Looks to me as though it's doing an average of the two frames instead of just displaying them in their raw format. Ideally, I'd like the finished article to play like a solid beam (which is how they look in reality)...

I think we may just have to live with some of it though until we can find a camera that will actually cope with the brightness wink

lol, I couldn't find it in vegas before I went out, I thought it was a dropped feature, just found it.

view menu - video bus track, add motion blur envelope there.

I'd given up and was reading about how it was not as good as various after effects/premier plug ins, or effects from various compositors so I was looking into them..

Sounds like a plan!

I worked out the last few bits of how to make my new fading stuff work last night so I should have a firmware update for Sym and Yakumo some time soon!

So chutney; do you actually want this pair of hyperlights that have been sitting on my desk or should I ship them off to Nate? wink

I would have thought the shadows cast by you body in the way of the hyperlights would have shown the brightness well enough? That's the main thing about fire, it's bright enough to illuminate your body, most glow toys aren't. Like cleric's freehand video, the ultra glowsticks are bright enough to cause shadows to form on the walls behind him. Win.

Hyperlights should be bright enough to make you look like your very own disco! Disco!!! disco disco disco!

I mean, having them off and it being pitchblack, then turning them on and seeing the entire room pretty good without night mode on the camera? That would be enough for me! biggrin

I'll go have a look at how the old footage I've got's come out.

Dunno if I've got any on the DV cam, but the digicam looked pretty good.

Meg: Good point... and that's exactly what they do smile

Chutney: Mine? ...we could put together the finishing touches to the vid while we're at it. I should be back from work for ~7

Polarity: Bear in mind that they've got noticeably brighter compared to the old prototypes we were spinning in the last photo shoot you were at here in Malvern ...or were you referring to some other footage you'd taken?

Oh, funny as it was to taunt chutney that was so cruel to nate to suggest that here..

And yeah, they certainly light the place up! I'll have my prototypes with me in Ed. so you'll see mcp smile

Nate will get some in the near(ish) future in any case (just need to solder another board and finish the housing)... although his may be in a slightly different form!

I've got footage from the first outing I took on the digicam (if I could only find where I saved it), and I think there's some from falmouth this year.

I could always stick the camera in manual and turn the gain right down, and the FPS right up. It'd stop the colors getting washed out, but they wouldn't look as bright.

Not to worry.. I'm sure the tweaks we talked about are going to make an already stunning video even better still. The orange / white / blue stutter fade we last night looked pretty funky too smile

I have every intention of shipping them world-wide! biggrin

I'm afraid they're not yet available unfortunately ...although I am making progress.

Unfortunately, my (real) day job combined with christmas parties and present buying is taking priority right now. I finish work for Christmas today so over the next few days I should actually have some time to make some more serious progress. As always; watch this space rolleyes wink
