Little update for you all (thought I'd start a new thread as the last one was getting a bit big!!). I've been a busy bee tonight and I now have 4 pairs of the MK4 (dare I say final?) boards soldered together... now to get something to put 'em in ready for Synergy!

Well in that case no, I don't think it does.

Taking a simple example, if you wanted to fade from 0 to 255 on one of the channels over a period of 333ms, it would increment the green colour by 0.765' each millisecond for 333ms. It can do that independently for each colour channel at the same time.

...which isn't quite what you were suggesting was it?

woooooo, I don't know what's going on, but this I do know, you should make it go up to rgb 256,256,256 (from 0)

then you could be all like:

loser: "check out my ultimate areotechs: they're sooo bright!"
yakumo: "yeah but my hyperlights are one brighter."
loser: "what does that mean? What's that in lumens?"
yakumo: "... they're one brighter."

No need to because a HyperLight 255 is going to be much greater intensity than an Aerotech 256...

not really no, I was thinking about 'dim' not fade,
and assuming you were doing it via colour, though thinking about it now with hyperlights I guess you could just do it via power output/brightness which is what luminescence (in the sense of a computer pallet) was designed to simulate anyway.

I was thinking too technically anyway, the difference between actually using a calculated lum instead of equally dropping r g and b at the same rate would probably only be noticeable if you were comparing gradient fills on a 32bpp screen.

so in the LED context, imperceptible.

: 256. Exactly. One brighter.

:Why don't you just make 255 brighter and make 255 be the top brightness and make that a little brighter?

If only Jon makes the mistake of writing something like 5' instead of 5" in diameter in the design blueprints when giving the specs to the manufacturers.

We'll end up with poi taller than he is.

Go rent it, you'll understand why.... or maybe not. Yakumo had almost the exact quote. (I couldn't be bothered to look it up...)

Today I was thinking.. the Wii will be avaliable widely here in sweden after christmas. It's here today, but only 6000 copies which you needed to umm.. what's the word ?? Pre-buy haha.

Anyhow, so.. If Hyperlights come out sometime after Christmas, that means I have a choice to make.

Between Wii and Hyperlights i'd choose the Hyperlights, but it's really difficult beeing a gamer and a poiier..

Thank you so much =) ubblove

It launched in the UK this morning, only a few places did midnight launches, but literally just got back from the store with my friend that just bought one from a place that opened at 7am, all the accessories were gone after the first 19 people were served (wii were 18), and we know they'd taken at least 50 pre-orders.

People who had not pre-ordered were allowed to leave their name and number, but were then turned away from the store.

They had NO extra remotes, and very few nunchuks (maybe 15?), they only had wii play that came with a remote, and was £5 more than a separate one, so it was that or no extras, I saw at least 1 person buy it twice for that..

Sitting here watching the update bar progress, knowing it briked some wii's in the US, is agonizing (takes more than a minute or two and has happened twice with little warning the firsttime (pretty much as soon as the wifi connected)

interestingly the wristrap is that came with the system has a slightly (by .5 mm) stronger cable where it connects compared to the one that shipped with wii play.

I'll let you know which is more fun to play with later, Hyperlight's coming round this evening smile

sorry you have to wait for both meditate hug

Hiya Jon.

I talked about Hyperlights with my friends tonight they are also pretty excited. We came up with a few questions of different nature.

Ill take the one that's probably the most boring one to read, first. How much do you think the Hyperlights per pair will cost?

Second, we thought about and we all three want a pair of them. And it would perhaps be benefical to order them at the same time, Perhaps we could get a group buy special prize?

Over to my personal question. Which is a bit more on the technical side. Is it possible to make the L.E.D go into Blacklight mode, that is.. Ultra Viloet light ?, I had a brief discussion and if it's possible with the out of the box, no modifications to the hardware, it'd be really cool if possible.

Thanks for your time and good luck! ubbrollsmile

I'll leave the rest to Jon I could only speculate (on this last point too but I can take a more educated guess on this).

the luxeon led is made of an r,g and b head behind a single lens. black light LED's are available I beleive, but it would be a totally separate addition, that would require hardware and software modification, so it's doubtful any time soon.

Cost - I'm not too sure. There's still a lot to work out, but I would guess somewhere around the £100-£150 mark.

Special prize - Er.. ? I guess if they were being posted to the same place you could save on that? As per the previous answer though, there's still a fair bit to sort out so I'm not making any promises smile

Blacklights - I've no plans to add blacklight to them. Why would you want it though? I mean HyperLights can reproduce any colour you can imagine. Blacklight will only make UV reactive stuff glow a single colour!

Suit - I'll see what I can do :P

Hope that helps?

{None of the above uses any gfx effects (photoshop filters etc), each letter comes from 1 real photo, all untouched apart from the diagonal bar on the R which was relocated from another part. The aim was to do it with the absolute minimum amount of editing, only positioning and (very little) erasing was used smile, it's to show off the toys not cgi smile. it may not be as clean as I like, I can't see it all that well as I can't work on my CRT atm, only LCD's so the colour replication sucks}

I know.. I only had a few minutes last night with access to the internet and the thread you linked to was enormous. I've not seen anything about 15 min chargers before and the bits I skim-read in that article all sounded negative. I'll have a look tonight and get back to you.

If you've read that article though, you probably know more than I do on the subject... but what I did read suggested that unless you get the right charger and the right batteries, you're liable to only get 1/10th of the life out of your batteries. So my initial reaction would be to go for one of the slower chargers and go by some reviews. I could do with getting a better charger myself - the one I've got seems to take ~3-4 hours to charge the batteries I'm using!

Would this be good enough for a T?

Chargers - fair enough, didn't think you might not have seen them at all yet. There's a uniross one with an LCD showing how much charge each individual battery has too, but I could only find them on sale to the UK via ebay from australia at the moment, lol.

T - kind of but I'd already used that one for the R, and one very similar for the P so I was hoping to find something a bit different, I'd been through all the geekops pics pretty much smile

will have to get someone to do some spinning I guess, I don't want to be purposefully trying to create letter shapes though, it defeats some of the object of my mini project smile
