I'm just about to buy a new staff (and my first) and wondered if there was much difference in spinning the 1200mm or the 1400mm ones? I'm 6ft and have just really started spinning. Which one would I be better suited to??? Thanks, James

It all comes down to personal preference. I'm 5'9" and i'm spinning a 1350mm and it's ideal for me personally. You can pick up either a 1200 and 1400 and over time you will develop your own feel and method for it. 1400mm at a glance should do you just fine

You can do different moves with different lengths. It really depends on your own style... you'll have to figure it out for yourself, so play around with both lengths for a while.

personaly i dont use large staffs i use two small ones about devilstick length because theres spo much i can do with them they have a faster spin on them to

well it surely depends, where the 10centies are...
However, my main approach to this is: you can always cut it off, but maybe not glue it back on. So if I were you.... get the longer one. You hate it? Trim it down.
Longer sticks are good for contact and slower gameplay
Shorter usually are faster (also depends on diameter and density of the material)...
Maybe consider yourself to get more than one stick. The longer and heavier, the less YOU can FORCE THE STICK into what you THINK is right and the more the stick will show you where he wants to go
teaches some respect for the craft, too. Much like monkeyfists.... the best smiles are the ones you lead to
