Does anyone else think Hallowe'en is an odd day to get married on? My cousin is getting married tomorrow and the date has caused a few raised eyebrows, especially as the reception is in a building that at one point was apparently a mental hospital (I say apparently as this might just be my dad winding me up. I have yet to confirm or deny it to myself). It's probably because she does tarot and palm readings and believes pretty heavily in numerology (her kids have names that have a number of letters in them significant to their birth dates). I'm going to ask her if the date has any significance when I see her but I just wondered if anyone else has ever been to a wedding on a strange day or knows if there is anything significant about getting hitched on 31st October.

Of course it could just be that it's the only day they could get! tongue

Samhain is the Pagan New Year....(pronounced SOW-en)....

Is a time of endings but, is also a very good time to make new beginnings.

I like your cuz already!!! I say kudos to her for making choices according to what she believes and not because of a few raised eyebrows. Those eyebrows will settle all on their own!

I wish her and hers all the happiness that this Pagan can send! clap clap clap

Thanks fyrespirit! I always thought she was pretty cool too. She read my palm last Christmas and told me I would have 4 major relationships in my life which should be interesting as I'm not sure I've had one yet! ubblol

faith, it's entirely possible you're right too. The date could mean everything or nothing shrug I'll find out tomorrow I guess!

A friend of mine is a humanitarian minister, and she had to perform a wedding last halloween. And it was a fancy-dress wedding! ubblol She said it was really funny, the amount of effort everyone had put into the costumes. I think the groom was a zombie and the bride was a vampire.....ubblol

aye Halloween is a great day. It isnt all spooky. Sod the eyebrows anyways.
As mentioned above it is a time of change and I generally find that this time of the year is great. I like the energies that are whizzing around.

A friend of mine got married on 06/06/06...

For her, that date has deep religious significance. So I don't think there's any problem with it.

If you were doing it for fun, why not?

Now I've got used to the idea I think it's cool too. When I first found out I did think it was a bit dark but it doesn't necessariliy have to be. I'm quite looking forward to it now!

Chelly - no mention has been made of fancy dress but I am now tempted to throw my skull mask and vampire tunic in the car just in case wink wonder what else I've got in the magic box...

NYC - Was that her idea or yours?? Good luck and congratulations regardless beerchug

Sherbit - thank you, I will pass it on

Loey - pretty much the conclusion I've come to

Lilith - I will make copious amounts of notes and observations so I can relate every last detail to everyone tongue

Turned out there wasn't any significance to the date after all. She just thought it would be fun! Fairly standard family wedding in the end, a few people did turn up in fancy dress and I saw some cousins I haven't seen for abotut 20 years so a good evening.
