hello :-)
i really want to get some sock poi but i don't know the best place to get them. ideally i want blue & white ones & i'd like some with the weight already in them (i know - fussy aren't i?!) so they're just ready to go as soon as i get them but i just don't know where to look - any suggestions? thank you

I made my own about a year ago with just some knee socks and a couple of juggling balls and they're the only ones I like practicing with today.

Also, if you want glow socks the ones HoP sells rock.

my last set of sock poi (parts sourced from k-mart):

1 pair of pastel stripey toe socks (very attractive)
3-pack of tennis balls

total cost: $6.12

and I even had one tennis ball left over!! absolute bargain. if you want more weight, sew rice into the end of the socks...

Thuds (juggling balls) make lovely weights, looks a bit nicer than a bag of peas.

Making them is definately the best and cheapest option. Then you can put in the weight that suits you best, from heavey to light.

Things I have known people to have in sock poi include... bouncy balls (my personal fave), juggling balls, tennis balls, balled up socks, rice, pasta, lentils (all sealed in bags or, yes, you've guessed it, more socks).

Also, many people find the Hop socks too stretchy for their liking, some like them, some don't, all down to personal choice.

(once you get used to poi, the stretchiness makes it more fun)
